community.cartalk.com/.../radio-stays-on-after-removing-key-from-ignit... Mar 4, 2012 - this just started today and when i turned off my car and removed the keyfrom the ignition, the radio stayed on.
It sounds like you have a constant 12V power supply wired to the radio instead of a switched 12V. If you've recently installed a new radio, check your wires again. There should be a 12V constant and a 12V switched. The switched 12V will turn the radio off, while the constant 12V is for keeping the clock and radio memory working.
there is a push pin in the ignition when the key is taken out the pin closes and radio etc goes off. spray some wd40 in the ignition and pushe key in and out a few times should free it up.
Hi, if this is an aftermarket radio that was added or if someone has changed the wiring, the radio may not be wired properly. Has there been any work done there before this started?
you need to get a honda dealer to code the key(s)to the car.otherwise it will turn over and die each time you try to start it.(some cars have matching ecm/ignition switches)it would have been easier to tell your local honda dealer the chassis no and they would then have supplied the keys to your car.then coded them.
Hi. You need to check a few things.
make sure you have power on both the red and yellow wire with the key on. If only one has power the radio will not work. If the red and yellow wires are switched it can also affect the way the redio operates. One is constant power for memory the other is key on power so the radio knows to shut off with the ignition key off.
also make sure that you have a good ground connection on the black wire..
if nothing works yes you probhably have a bad radio. the dual brand radios are notorious for poor solder connections on the mainboard due to the way they build thier cheap circuit boards..
