What is wrong with my system? All plugs are in properly and volume is turned up. Blue light on front in lite.

If you're talking about speakers plugged into a Windows computer, then look in the lower right-hand corner near the time, and you should see a speaker icon. Right click that icon, and select "Open Volume Mixer" from the menu that pops up. On the mixer, make sure none of the volume levels are set to Mute.

If the levels look normal, try right-clicking on that speaker icon and selecting "Playback devices" from the menu that pops up. Do you see your speakers there? Is the green check mark on them? If not, click on the speaker, then click the "Set Default" button.

I am having problems adjusting volume

What type of laptop HP , ASUS , COMPAQ , ACER ?..........
Up the Volume on My HP Laptop
Open the "Start" menu and click on the "Control Panel" icon.
Locate and open the icon that deals with sound.
Depending on your version of Windows, it will say either "Sounds and Audio Devices" or "Adjust System Volume."
Adjust the volume under the "Speakers" icon.
To do this, click on the slider bar and move it up on the slider.
If you need to decrease the volume, simply move the slider bar down.
Click on "OK" when finished and close the "Control Panel" window.
Click on the speaker icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen for a faster volume adjustment. Simply move the slider bar up to increase the volume and move it back down to decrease the volume.

Volume on an Acer Laptop
Acer laptops are typically sold with pre-installed Windows operating systems that offer sound-adjustment features for increasing the volume on the laptop's built-in stereo speakers.
These same functions can also be used in tandem with external speakers or headphones to increase the volume, as well as mute all sound on the laptop.
If the computer should output an unusually low volume, fixing the problem may be no more involved than sliding a control switch with the computer mouse. Click once on the speaker icon in the taskbar on the lower-right corner to open a rectangular window with a slide control.
Click and hold the left mouse button on the slide control to drag it upward, increasing the volume to the laptop's maximum setting.
Click the "Mixer" button below the slider control to open another window with volume controls for "Speakers" and "Applications," adjusting each slide control upward to increase the volume.
Be sure the speaker icon below each control is not accidentally muted.
Click once on each speaker icon to remove the red circle with a slash through it, which will restore audio.
Click the Microsoft flag or "Start" button in the lower-left corner if the shortcut speaker icon is missing from the taskbar.
Click "Control Panel" to select "Adjust Sounds" from the Hardware and Sounds category.

My speakers volume is high and im not hearing anything

Is the sound card installed right? Is the driver up-to-date? Have you checked the Volume Mixer? When you right-click on the speaker icon and then click Open Volume Mixer or something similar. You can see if the sound is muted. I'm not an expert but this is what I can think of at the moment. :P

My Sony Vaio VGN-FS690P has stopped playing sound. The sound card states it is working correctly. It does play one sounds, the sound when it starts and show the VAIO screen.

Hopefully this helps. Right click on your volume control icon. Open the "Volume Mixer," and make sure that nothing has the mute X on. Then right click on "Volume Control," and make sure that the volume control is checked to play all sounds, and that your Speaker box is checked. Next step is your music, if the sound was muted directly @ the music playback, this could be the problem. Open your Media Player and try to play music, if you cannot hear it, click on the mute button to the song playing. If your Player was shut off in the "mute" mode, then you will not hear sound. It Happened to me once. You will need to check all of your "Players" to see if any of them were shut off in "mute."

The mute wont turn on,on the dell inspiron

Have you tried going into the speaker settings? We'll assume with a new PC you have Vista installed, click the speaker icon on the right side of the tray, and selecting "Mixer" will enable access to volume control for the output devices and for applications.

If no speaker icon is visible To check the volume controls in Windows Vista, click Start and then click Control Panel. Choose Hardware And Sound and then click Adjust System Volume under the Sound section. The Volume Mixer window will open, and you should see volume sliders for Device and Applications. Click and drag the sliders to view the volume level percentages. If the speaker icons show a circle with a red slash, click the icon so the speakers are no longer muted.

Furthermore, you’ll want to double-check all of your master volume and mute settings.

Hi i have an hp pavilion dv2000 lap top, i am trying to record my acoustic guitar into the comp. This lap has conexant high definition audio sound card inbuilt. However when i try and plug a microphone...

The mic may be muted on the computer. In XP, double click the volume control icon in the bottom right of the screen to get the mixer. If you don't see the microphone input, go to 'options' then 'properties' and place a check in the box to show it. Then make sure it is unmuted and the volume is up.
In Vista, right-click the volume icon and choose recording devices and make sure it is on and volume up.

windows vista ultimate upgrade will not install. It goes through the whole program then states it is not able to complete and reinstalls vista premium. I have inactivated virus detection and rebooted. It copies the windows , gathers the files, expands the files, installs features and updates, completes upgrades then it states one or more could not be installed then it reinstalls the old program. after reinstalling the old program another popup appears stating to use the upgrade advisor--which I have. I purchased this product at staples and paid to have a technician install it. He gave up. He stated that everyone on line was having problems with this installation and it would not work. This is not acceptable. I am not that experienced in programming but I know at least you may have to trouble shoot . I am running the program again as we speak. At this momment it has made it farther than it has before. It states it is setting up the computer----completeing upgrade---the screen has gone black--returned to completing upgrade---the same message has appeared ''windows could not configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation'' The computer I am trying to set this up is the desk top. I also have to laptops that use the same internet connection. On one laptop I am still working on installing the windows vista upgrade I purchased from microsoft I have been able to get everything installed except for 2 langueges. And I had help getting that far. As far as I can tell the only differences between the 2 is the outside appearance--the one I am asking help on comes in a black plastic container with upgrade printed under dvd in the upper left hand corner and the one I used on the dell inspiron 1720 laptop. Thank you for your help JuWan Marie Heil
