Question about Computers & Internet

I have plugged into my USB ports the mouse and key board. Both have lights on them. The mouse is working. When I type on the keyboard, nothing happens, my usual computer desktop is still on my computer monitor. Yes, the light is on the keyboard. Why is the monitor not changing when I type on the keyboard.

If your normal desktop is still on the monitor then you haven't opened an application to type into.

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I can't type anything I changed the batteries and its acting like it has no power, nothing is working on the key board but the mouse is working. Thanks Tate

1) make sure your batteries are inserted correctly
2) make sure when you insert the USB sending unit into a port that the USB port is working
3) press the connect button on the sending unit and also the connect buttons on the bottom of the keyboard and mouse.
3) make sure in the system setup that USB is enabled.

My Acer KU 0760 keyboard is not working at all. Seem as if the computer doesn't recognize it at all. The mouse works in the USB ports, but nothing from the keyboard. Had old gatway keyboard laying...

Try the keyboard in the USB port you've been using for your mouse. Just move your mouse to a different USB port. I know, this seems like a "too simple" solution, but USB ports sometime get cranky.
A question I would have would be: have you been using a PS2-type keyboard prior to trying to use the Acer USB one? Sometimes the BIOS needs the item "use USB port for keyboard" turned on.
Good luck!

The mouse works but when we type on the keyboard, nothing happens

Hi. Well you didn tell what kind of keyboard are you using. Is it a USB or a wireless. I am assuming that it is a USB keyboard.
  1. 1st of all check whether the key board is properly plugged in2 your machine properly, check for loose connections.
  2. Check whether you have plugged it into the correct port, because usually the the internet keyboard do not adapt to the USB port, and a PS/2 to US adapter port wont work.
  3. Download and install the latest Keyboard Software
  4. Before installing the new driver dont forget to uninstall the previous one, install the new one and reboot.

Acer 5100 keyboard and mouse will not work. No

Hello there, this is usually caused by one of three things.

Either something was just plugged in (usually USB) that is interfering that you can just unplug

The computer has locked up for another reason (more in a sec.)

Mainboard could possibly be bad / going bad =(

To test if the computer itself is locked up try plugging in an external USB mouse or keyboard to see if you can get that to work. If it does then that means the keyboard and mouse built in are failing, which again basically means the mainboard is failing.

Hopefully it will be that the computer is completely locked up so when you plug in an external usb mouse or whatever it won't respond. That's easiest to fix.

Please let me know

Thanks
Tim

Microsoft wireless mouse 3000; put in new battery, still nothing

nikcorra2488,

try this: plug in the USB key & check for the green light. Then go to start, control panel, & double click mouse (with whatever mouse works). Check the hardware tab and see it the computer is recognizing that the mouse is there. If it is there, it should be working fine. If not, then perhaps you need to reinstall the USB port drivers. Sometimes this will happen when you've upgraded from 1.0 to 2.0 USB ports.

Hope this helps.

How to turn keyboard and mouse on

make sure there is new batteries in both the mouse and keyboard. Also the wireless receiever that connects to the computer is responding as well.

After you get new batteries put in and also have the receiever plugged in. press the caps lock, num lock keys and see if they light up on the receiver. If they light up then things are working, if they don't then bring up the notepad and see if any of the keys show up in notepad when you type and also see if the cursor on the screen moves for your mouse.

Hopefully both of them will work once you change batteries. If both don't work after changing batteries then you'll need to get a new wireless keyboard/mouse kit.
