CLP 510 reporting Black toner Empty even with full toner

Pls help.

First I received an error message that the imaging unit needed to be changed. I bought one and put it in. It worked fine for two very small print jobs (about 10 pages total) and now it intermittently reports that the imaging unit needs to be changed. At the same time, I recently replaced the black toner, but just received a "replace black toner" error message. I had one so I replaced it to see what would happen. It then said "replace magenta toner". I did and then it said "replace cyan toner". I did and then it said "replace black toner" again. PLEASE HELP.

There is a possibility of toner on the contacts INSIDE the printer, that align with the set of three contacts on the cartridge - clean off. If this is the cause, thats the cure.

This 'full' toner.

Is it ;

a ) Re-filled by yourself (and has not had the chip replaced or re-set ?, that would cause your problem.

b) If it is a NEW genuine SAMSUNG item, it is faulty (or the printer is!)

c) If it is a 'remanufactured' (most of which are just filled up with toner, without proper dismantling and cleaning, and most are NOT tested. - then the chip has not ben replaced/reset, or is faulty (or the printer is!).

it is a typical new problem for samsung printers. you have to reset the printer. it is a pretty tricky thing to reset this type of printers because you can "blow" it up. try find a local workshop, or a specialized person to do this

Waste tonner tank

The waste toner container is inside the front cover at the bottom right. If you work for a business you should purchase a new one. If not you may be able to empty it into a another container and seal it before putting into the bin.

yes refilling will solve the problem.but you have to change the green colour small chip on the side of the toner to make it work,as the new chip will be detected as new toner in the printer.

Toner and Imaging Unit issues

If this IS a CLP-510, first make an information confirmation print.
Press MENU, then press ENTER, and ENTER again.

Look at the counter for the imaging unit, is it a low count confirming that you have indeed replaced it ?
If not you will need to reset the counter.

Check the counters for the toner cartridges, and check the capacity of the cartridge. On a CLP-510 the image counter for the toner is held on the chip on the cartridge (which also identifies the capacity of the cartridge).

There have been some faulty (oiginal Samsung chips), and of course re-manufactured cartridge chips could fail (many re-manufacturers don' test their cartridges before dispatch, they don't have the facility to do so without starting the count on the chip (or 'bowing' the reset fuse on a CLP-500 cartridge). VERY few re-manufacturers can test these cartridges without starting the count.

Sometimes the 'replace xxxxx toner' messages are caused by toner on the three contacts on the side of the cartridge, or their mating contacts inside the printer. Rarely, this can be caused by a faulty circuit board.

Samsung clp-510n printer

1 Could be toner on the contacts (inside the printer) that mate with the contacts on the cartrdige.

2 Are you sure they are 510 toners and not 500 ones ?? 510 toners have a chip that identifies the cartridge (Colour, Capacity) and maintains a count of the pages printed.
500 toners have a reset fuse that resets the toner counter in the printer, and a resitor that identifies the capacity

3 Are they new cartridges, remanufactured, or 'home refiled'.
if either of the later two, were the chips replaced ? - if not the cartridge still thinks it has printed its full life of pages.
