Question about D-Link RangeBooster G WBR-2310 Wireless Router (WBR2310)

1 Answer

Lights have frozen on my router i got it to work again but things havent been the same i now cant connect to my friends on xbox live anymore. Its gotten worse now because i used to be able to connect with certain friends and i cant at all my NAT is open and so is theirs. When the power used to go out the lights would not freeze but now they always do and i have to leave it un plugged for 10 minutes for it to work again. Is there anyway to fix this or do i need a whole new router now.

Check with the router website if they have a newer firmware for this product. Update it if thats possible. Try resetting the router once or twice. ( you have to set it up from start again if you reset )
Either of this should help . if it still keeps freezing, could be a bad one .
Thanks Ranjit

I was in the middle of a game on XBox live when i lost connection. i cant get back on LIVE anymore. I have my xbox connected directly to the router. All my pcs are still able to go online

try another lead first
turn everything off
turn everything on in turn giving them a few seconds to initialise...modem router then xbox
go into xbox setting and see if there's any information there telling you the problem such as i.p problems then post a comment here if it doesn't work so we can look again

Xbox live on netopia router

Okay, to connect to Xbox Live using Wireless Internet you will need this:

One Xbox Wireless connection unit, There are two types, the black and white versions. The black one is able to pick up the most diverse signals and has a higher potential for speed so I recommend that one.
You will also need, of course, a high speed internet source (modem) and a wireless router connected to the modem. When looking for wireless routers look for ones with marks claiming to be compatible with Xbox Live or a Windows OS. Those have been tested to work with Xbox.

Before trying to set up your Xbox Live, make sure your Router is set up with your computer, and set to be used as a wireless router. That's another tip all together but just follow your installation CD.

Okay so here we go!

First, Connect the wireless networking adapter to the back of your Xbox.
If you have a network cable plugged into your xbox, unplug it. Check to make sure the adapter's light is on.

Here's what the light's mean:
On the gray adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a wireless router, gateway or wireless access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)

On the black adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a wireless router2_bing.gif, gateway or wireless access point.
Flashing green: The adapter is attempting to connect to a wireless router, gateway, or access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)

Now the CONFIGURATION, the reason most of you are reading this:

Turn your Xbox on and go to "My Xbox"
Go to "System Settings"
Go to "Network Settings"
Go to "Configure Network"
On the basic settings tab select "Wireless mode"
Select "Scan for Networks"
Select your Wireless source.

NOTE: If your Network isn't listed you will have to manually enter it.
To do this select "Specify unlisted network"
You will need to enter your SSID
Then choose which security you used to set it up on your Computer (ie: WPA, WEP...) Then enter your security code. If there is no code then select "no security"

Your adapter should have a green light now.

Now go back to "Network Settings" and select "Test Xbox Live2_bing.gif Connection"

If it works your good to go!

Netopia's Modem my also act as a Router protecting your system from internet traffic! You need to check your model to insure what you have. If it is a Router you will have to Contact Netopia in regards to configuring Pin Hole on the Router to open the gaming ports on the Router.
