Re: convergence problem

It's a convergence problem, go into Settings in the TV menu and select Convergence if Auto it will do it when you select this. If not it will ask you to do "Multi-Point Convergence" which will bring up a huge grid on your screen. You must use the TV remote and using your up and down and left and right buttons to place the "curser" on each grid and adjust the Red and Blue on each point till you get a pure white "grid point" Think of the picture as split up into say 72 different puzzle pieces and when you adjust each piece it fixes that one piece of the puzzle or screen. You want all lines to be pure white and by looking at the grid if you see either blue or red on the side of the white line, you want to move the right, left, up or down button so that the blue or red line gets back on track with it's corresponding white line grid.

It sounds complicated but you will get it after a few seconds of playing around with it. Convergence should be done after the TV has been on for at least 30 minutes and should be done at least once a year (twice would be better at minimum) You see the problem with RPTV is they use three color lenses and as you watch TV, the lenses over time get out of alignemnt and need to be readjusted to get a clear sharp picture.

It may take a while to do it especially if convergens has not been done in years. Do not give up after 2 or 3 tries.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. It still can be repaired.
Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section. Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence. You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight. If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem. Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix Reply

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a technician or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from Their kits include a step by step instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc. Thanks! hope you rate my response

The guns are out of alignment so its showing in shadows, so how do i get them back align?

The first step would be to use the original remote to fix the convergence problem. You need to go to menu > convergence and then try to align the convergence. If you are unable to fix the convergence by remote, you need to open the TV and replace convergence IC's. This is a simple fix.

If you have an electronics repair experience and would like to repair the TV yourself, revert and i would guide you how to replace the convergence chip on this set.

Let me know,so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

The convergence ICs are located on the left board on a huge heatsink they should be STK392-110 or STK392-120. You can get replacement ICs at the following link and they also provide free step by step instructions on how to remove and install the new ICs.

JVC AV-56WP74 56 in rear projection convergence

If you remove the lower front panel where the speakers are then the small access panel you will see the convergence module right there in the front. It will have the two Convergence ICs attached to that heat sink. They are probably STK392-110. Then if you would like let me know and I will post a link where you can get the parts along with step by step instructions on how to do the repair.
