Are you trying to use the recover disk? or new XP, what did you have in the past? you may need to use the recover disk first and see what will happen as it may contain all the necessary drivers first that you need first, let me know if that work and please remember to rate my service so I am able to continue provide quality service and improve on it with your help. God bless

Hello

I'm assuming this is a brand new hard drive? If it is then it's defective. If this is a hard drive from another computer then it needs to have the old partition table removed. If you have another computer download any partition manager from www.download.com. Delete the partition and then your OS should install just fine. If you don't have another computer, you can still download a partition manager at the local library.

Good luck

How to do i enter bios setup in toshiba 5205-s705

Hold down the F1 key, then, while continuing to hold it down, press the power switch. the system will turn on, then prompt you to check system and press F2 (thats from memory, it maybe F1 again) to enter BIOS.
With many Toshibas you can hold down any key to do this, as it simply generates a keyboard error, prompting the same message.
Hope this info helps.

Toshiba 5205-S705 is giving an error msg boot.mgr is missing..i tried booting from xp through cd rom but didn work tried to boot with usb as well but didn work any solution pls mail prashantaishu@gmai

You will need a operatingsystem disk or a repair disk to fix it. Insert it in the drive then bootfrom it. You want to get to a dos command prompt (black screen with whitelettering) and type the following commands. Press ENTER after eachcommand.
bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot
bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

Reboot and see if the problem is solved. If not get back to the doscommand prompt and run the check disk utility.Torun the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating systemdisc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want toget to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type thefollowing command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Install windows XP on toshiba satellite U300

Hello
The windows Xp installation doesent find your hardrive because you have a sata drive. you need to adjust the settings in the bios so the sata drive appears as a ordinary IDE drive(ide native) or something like that. search in the bios settings.
A other way is to burn a new winxp cd with the Toshiba Satellite U300, sata drivers.
download the http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-Up-and-Recovery/Barts-PE-Builder.shtml
and download the toshiba harddrive drivers and creat a new cd.
but the simples way is to make the change in bios.
good luck

How to install XP in toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 laptop

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.
