Where is alt / shift key on 02 blackberry 7290 rim, don`t know much about the phone, got from UK.No "sim", "locked", trying to unlock. any help would appreciated

If you can supply your mep code.
1: Press alt, cap and h keys together and hold for a few seconds until a screen appears with "help me".
2: You need the info on the screen "live" to access the code.
3: The bottom of the page (on the supplied link next to "2")is where all the info can be entered by you.

Ive unlocked many BB mobiles/cellphones up to 8520 models(i don't have any newer ones but they do work also.


Any problems let me know.Sometimes things don't work but just restart it all and dont give up but ive had a unlock first time every time on old to new BB,s.

There can be many ways to Unlock your phone. As far as i know unlocking by codes is the simple and safe way. I will suggest the website Unlock-Zone.com which is doing good service and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums.
I used them to unlock my cell phone. contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked.

I think I see your problem.
The 'mepd' must be uppercase. Hold the shift key down while typing in the MEPD.
Once you get into the area that shows what limitations are active or disabled, then you must use the Alt. Option key on the fare left third row of keys down. Holding the Alt. Options key, type MEP then release the Alt. Option key and press 2.
You should now be prompted to enter the unlock code. If not, start from where you had the last correct results. Also, If it will not work, back all the way out to the memo icon and try the keys you need to type to insure all of the keys are working and you are not fighting a temperamental key switch.

Don't worry, you can unlock blackberry 7290 with online blackberry unlock code at third party sites on internet. This code will reset your phone network to default factory setting so you can use your india sim card in that phone.

Unfortunately, the unlock code for a BB 7290 is unique to each phone. The unlock code is based on the IMEI of your BB. After getting an unlock code then the steps to unlock are:
1. go to options

2 scroll to SIM CARD then press jog dial in once to select it

3. Type MEPD (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

4. Does it say Network active? if so your phone is locked

5. Press and hold the alt key (half moon looking key on the lower left side)

6. as you are holding the alt key type in MEPE (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

7. type in the unlock code when prompted

8. After entering the code press the jog dial in

9. Your phone is now unlocked!
