I hAVE the DVD-VR357, when we put in a new disk it askes if we want to intitialize it. We say yes then after about 60% finished it kicks it. The disk is a Sony DVD+RW. please help
Some recoders are picky about media used - Try to use another blank maybe you have a bad disc. I've had so much **** from those SONY DVD+RW - if it still spits it - then change media - Use the verbatim re-writeable instead, the 4x, they are much better than the sony ****.

- I gather from your negative rating that it did not work for you - Did you try ANOTHER blank media ? Maybe you have a particular disc that is bad, dust, etc.... Like I said, DVD recorders use sometimes subpar optical drives, and are not as tolerant as the ones you buy for your computer - plus they use outdated firmware also that do not get as much frequent updates. The reason I recommended you try other media is to rule out recorder problems. If it does so with every brand of media you throw at it, you have a defective unit - I have experience with DVD recorders and I've used Samsung recorders and I've had load of problems with them in the past with disc recording and formatting - one unit would simply refuse to use ANY disc I threw at it and I had to return it - Now using a Sony DVD-Recorder with 160GB HDD and works like a charm.

Have had this product for nearly three years but it has had very little use. Has worked fine until recently but when trying to copy from tape to DVD am getting a message saying ''since the disc has invalid information'' + ''no more title list can be recorded''. I have always used TDK discs without any problem, but have now tried using other type discs, thinking there may have been some rogue discs in the TDK pack, but am still getting the same message. Customer service believe this indicates a fault in the product, but unfortunately it is out of warranty. We have been having some work done on the house which has meant a bit of plaster dust and condensation have been around - could this have affected the product - even thought it was covered by a dust sheet?
