I do not have a remote for this tv, however, I cleaned the tv screen with glass cleaner, maybe the box got wet through that process. If the box is bad, does that mean I need to have a repairmen fix the problem and f so, is it generally cheaper to buy a new tv?

HI,
Think the cleaner you used must have purged throught the control buttons and spoiled the Entire control board, Replace the control board will fix your issue, THis board has initial TV loader circuit, which gives signal to start the TV...

To Replacing would cost you very less, If you are familiar with TV BOARDS replace else it s better to call the repairman ti Fix it

If you still need furthur assistance leave me comments, I may help you

Are you using the remote to do this?Or directley on the tv?How long did you leave the tv unplugged? If you did tis directley on the tv(controls) then unplug the tv for about 10 minutes, then plug it back up for 2 minutes, and try and see if the tv will operate. Also ,plug the tv up in another plug in,on a different circuit.See if you have better luck.If none of this works, the board in the tv is bad.Has a dog urinated on the tv set?If you are not sure, look and inspect the tv real good.If the tv is up to high for that to have happened, the toss that idea out the window.Moister can effect the control board in the set.If the board has a film on it ,(this would mean you would have to remove the board)it would cause these problems.I hope this is some help. But cleaning the board after removing it from the set, might fix the problem if moister or such is on it(film). The best thing to use is contact cleaner, radio shack,or NApa AUTO PARTS WILL CARRY THIS PRODUCT..I this was helpful

My 2 year old granddaughter tuned down the brightness on my Dell latitude e5400 and now I can not see to turn it back up please help

Pressing and holding the function key (abbreviated as "Fn") and pressing the up, or down arrow keys increases and decreases the brightness. You can also press Fn and F1 and F2 or F7 and F8 to increase and decrease the brightness. Immediate results should be seen on the screen making your screen darker or brighter.

i think that there is a shorted buttons or in normally close position, try to press each buttons slowly and you will feel something that is ticking if one of the buttons does not tick it is damage it is in normally close position that will be the cause of the problem. specially check the volume button.

The cause of the problem is that the switch of your tv is dirty when cleaning it you must be familiar to the unit and the parts you will remove to prevent any damage you can use a contact cleaner, when applying a contact cleaner you must only spray it to the switch. Consult a expert technician to do it for you actual.

WS-5551 only on/off button works, won't respond to remote at all

take off the speaker grill, you will see 2 wire plugs, turn the tv on, disconnect both plugs, if it now works with the remote then you need to replace all of the front switches, or leave them unplugged and use the remote, if this doesn't work, you have a bad dm board or signal module which could get very expensive.

Volume and menu does not display

I had this problem on my Aquos (LC-46D62U). It was NOT a hardware problem. I recommend turning off the television. Next unplug the television for 5 to 10 seconds. This resets something for the television. Plug it back in and turn on the television. You should now be able to get your volume and other on-screen displays.

The PT-53WX52

This looks like a problemcausing the shutdown circuit to trigger. The shutdown circuit prevents the TV from being further damaged by an overcurrent or overvoltage event. The overcurent event is caused by a component being over driven and thus it decreases in resistive value causing an increase in current, The over voltage event is caused by a component increasing in its resistive value either due to an open circuit or decrease in the component's conductive area. In any event the shutdown circuits senses these eventes and shuts the TV down to prevent futher damage.

I would suggest taking the set to your local TV repair shop.

I hope this helps,
