Can't get to set up wizard and WAN lights are blinking!

Hi, I have redone the initial installation for the 514 (using instruction booklet from D624...don't ask me how...i think my daughter pulled a switcheroo on me...

And I can never get further than trying to get to the "set up wizard" but when i type in "admin" and enter, i get 401 unauthorized message.

also, WAN and WLAN lights are blinking, not solid. could that be my problem?

thanks for any help.

I have a d link d1 514 router. I'm unable to open 192.168.0.1. if i put the internet connection wire in LAN then I'm able to get internet access using cable but if i put the wire in wan, I'm not getting...

carry out the resetting of the dlink router
then use lan cable to gain access to dlink router,
set up the internet conenction (i.e. your internet provider modem plugged into the dlink router also)

if it has a built in wizard then just follow the on screen instructions

you will need to define SSID (wireless network name) and passkey (password for the wireless connection)

and the your done. disconnect the laptop from wired connection and connect via wireless

My dlink is set up and it shows on my wireless network but when i connect there is no internet comng through it just goes to a can not display this screen at this time page

Check the WAN light on the router -- if it is not lit, then your router is not connected correctly to your cable-modem or DSL-modem.

Start Internet Explorer, and access the web-server "built-in" to the router. Access the "settings" page, and check the "WAN" settings, to ensure that the router has received an IP-address from your Internet Service Provider.

Ran the setup wizard for the d link di 514 but still cant connect to internet

Do you have Internet connection before you installed the Dlink router? Do you have cable or DSL? If you have DSL make sure you have the username and password from your Internet service provider because you need to enter those information when you run the set up wizard. You need to connect your computer to the LAN port of the router. Turn off computer and router, turn on router first then turn on the computer. Run the set up wizard again.

My D-Link DI-514 wireless router doesn't light up

Sounds like you have a bad power supply. In my personal experiences with bad routers they either don't light up at all or all the lights blink. It doesn't take much to send one to the router graveyard. Power surges and lightning strikes are the most common culprits. Hope this helps

D-link di514

Hi,

Try the DSL modem directly connected to the PC.No D-Link Router(powered off and disconnected). Verify that the PCcould surf/browse/connect to the Internet. Go to Start, Control Panel,Network Connections, right click Local Area Connection, Properties, scroll down to/highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Properties button.Get the IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS assigned to the PC(write this down. This will be your WAN/Internet IP settings). Then Disable DHCP of your modem if it has one. OK, close, save or whatever is applicable.

Disconnect the DSL modem from the PC. Connect D-Link Router to PC (wired/LAN) without the modem connected to the router.Go again to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, right clickLocal Area Connection, Properties, scroll down to/highlight InternetProtocol(TCP/IP), Properties button. Tick "Use the following IPaddress". Enter this IP Add 192.168.0.10, Subnet Mask255.255.255.0,Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 and the DNS from what youhave written down earlier). This will be your LAN IP settings. OK,close, save or whatever is applicable.

Open a browser and log into the D-Link router (192.168.0.1, using "admin" as a username and no password). Do not run Wireless Network Setup Wizard. In WAN/Internet/Modem setting of router enable/check Static IP Add.Usethe IP numbers previously assigned to PC that you have written down asthe router's WAN/Internet/Modem IP settings. OK, close, save orwhatever is applicable. Reboot router. Connect DSL modem to router.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

NetGear wireless router model wpn 824 v2

  1. Then u have to setup ur router first
  2. Turn off the power on your computer.
  3. Securely connect an end of an Ethernet cable to your computer, as shown.
  4. Securely connect the other end to any of the router's four LAN ports.
  5. Connect a second Ethernet cable from the router's single WAN port to the modem.
  6. Make sure the modem is connected to the jack or cable to the Internet that was set up by your ISP.
    1. Start your network in this order:
      1. Turn the modem power off.
      2. Turn the router power off.
      3. Turn the modem power back on. Wait two minutes until the lights are stable.
      4. Turn the router power back on. Wait one minute until the lights are stable.
      5. Turn the computer power back on.
    2. Open an Internet browser, and type http://192.168.0.1. If a "Configuration Assistant" appears immediately, then do not follow the rest of these instructions. Follow the Configuration Assistant instructions, instead. Once you are finished, test your Internet connection by browing online, for example to http://kbserver.netgear.com.
    3. Type admin for User Name, and password for Password. (Older routers use 1234 as the password.)
    4. Click OK. This logs you into the router.
    5. Click Setup Wizard, on the left of the router settings page and set up your router
    6. that would fix your problem..

Belkin mimo installation

what you should have purchased was a modem/router and not a seperate router to connect to your modem, but the modem should connect to the cable/adsl port (wan) using the initial RJ45 lan cable, and then a lan cable from one of the 4 ports on the rear to each pc.
