Check the coils under refrig for dust , lint , pet hair , etc , and clean if necessary , as this will cause slow ice production , along with warmer freezer and refrig temps . Also , check to see if the back panel inside the freezer , has frost built up on it , which would indicate a defrost problem . For this , reply back to fixya , and myself or another expert will be glad to help you . I believe something's wrong with your new ice maker. Are you sure that the ice maker is not turned off on the display? And take a little bit of time and go through your user manual if you don't have the user manual let me know I will send you one http://c.searspartsdirect.com/mmh/pd_download/lis_pdf/OWNM/1509233L.pdf
I believe the 1F error indicates a problem with the ice maker. This could be an issue with the ice maker fan icing up, the fan motor failing or the PCB board that controls the fan. First try unplugging the power to the refrigerator for 8 hours. This may reset the error code. Next check if the fan is spinning freely. If the fan has iced up, then the motor could fail from the attempt to spin the fan.
If you add a comment with the full model number, I may be able to give you the parts information. (Look inside the refrigerator for the model number; there is usually a plaque with that data on the side of the fridge.) If your refrigerator is under warranty, contact Kenmore.
I hope this helps.

(If you turn off the ice maker after resetting the code, you probably won't see the error again.)
remove the dispenser bucket where the ice drops into inside the freezer and get a Tupper ware bowl, remove the bucket and dump this ice into the bowl, then rinse with the dispenser bucket with warm tap water to melt any ice on each end of this ice maker, then wipe dry and replace into freezer where you removed it to get cold again and leave empty till the next harvest of ice, this can be normal on some units after so many weeks,as it will not let the blades retract so as just to dispense only cubes, once bucket is cleaned of ice jams the solenoid and blades will again retract for cubes only
Hi,
It is sticking in the defrost mode...
Check out these tips...they can help you figure out what is going wrong withyour refrigerator and why it is not cooling
Your freezer is not cold enough. I had a heck of a time with this machine the first few attempts, when I was in storing it in my main freezer (less cold than the one in my garage). Then i froze the bowl in my garage freezer - it is set to below 32 degrees Farenheit and is designed for long-term storage (gives anything I put in it major freezer burn). When the freezer is set to a low enough temperature, you will find that even 14 minutes is plenty of time to acheive the desired ice cream consistency in the ICE-45 (without having to pre-chill the ingredients).
Other things to check:
Make sure you are using heavy whipping cream and not half-and-half or other substitute.
Make sure that you wait until you are ready to pour the ingredients into the bowl BEFORE taking the bowl out of the freezer.
try turning off ice maker for a day. remove the bucket that holds the ice. look all around bucket and into ice maker to determin if there is a jam, or if there is a cube stuck there preventing operation. Check that the ice arm can move freely and it is properly inserted on both ends. Make sure there is nothing in your freezer that could be getting in the way of the ice maker operation, either above or below the unit. One hint-wear disposable gloves when working with the ice maker-if you have any moisture on your hands, you tend to stick to the unit.
YOU SAID, YOU HAVE KENMORE ELITE BOTTOM FREEZER WITH ICE MAKER THE ICE CUBES SMELL
HORRIBLE ALWAYS, I EVEN TOSS THEM OUT EVERY FEW DAYS, STILL SAME PROBLEM
Ice has bad odor and taste. 1• Ice has picked up odor or flavor from strong food stored in refrigerator or freezer. 2• Water running to ice maker has poor taste or odor. 3• Ice not used frequently enough. 4• Cover foods tightly. Discard stale ice. Ice maker will produce fresh supply. 5• Add filter to water supply line. Consult a water purifying company. 7• Discard stale ice.
What kind of ice maker do you have? Is it "Ice Maker Plus"? Pull the ice bucket out so you can get a better view.
On the back of the freezer is a spout ramp that should connect to the back of the ice tray water deflector that the wire connects to. (I know, It's cold in there). The water deflector is connected to the back of the ice tray which sends the water to the tray. It should snap in.
Returning with the complete model number , will help also .
