Question about Intermatic Malibu 300W Power Pack Transformer ML300RTW

1 Answer

I had to unplug my transformer because it was making a buzzing sound every few minutes. (The lights outside were not on either) While it was buzzing it was also dimming the upstairs lights in my house. The transformer is located in my garge. And when I went to unplug it, it was warm and had an electrical burning smell. I've had the system now for about two years. What do I to get this thing replaced? I've already been to the warrenty info site for Intermactic, but it requires the receipt to file a claim, which I do not have any longer. What do I do? Kristi

The transformer is shorted in the windings. DO NOT plug it back in. The high amp draw is dimming the lights. Get a new one. To calculate the wattage rating for the new one: Add the number of lights on the circuit times the wattage per bulb. ( 12 bulbs x 11 watt bulbs = 132 watts. Then you'd get the 200 watt transformer. Get the next BIGGER transformer size available.

Unplug it for 30 minutes to an hour and it should start up again. Problem is your compressor is no good. Get ready for a new fridge in 3-6 months.

TV making loud buzzing sound

More sets than you might imagine have this kind of problem---I a regular TV it is usually a transformer that is vibrating hard enough to make the sound---the higher pitched sound is just that--a sound.

If this is a direct view(means not a flatscreen and has a Glass Picture tube it will be either the high voltage transformer or one of several smaller transformers.

This can usually be fixed---seen a few so loud the cats in the house run away.

Let me know model number of set for more information.

On chance it has the high voltage transformer I attach a photo of what that looks like.

I have a proscan 42LA45H 42 in television that has started making a buzzing noise from the back. What is causing this, and what do I need to do to fix.

Hi
If picture and sound is Ok, and only this buzzing sound is heard from the back of the TV, It should be due to core soose of some ferrite cored transformers inside, especially to the power supply regulator board of the TV. Open the back cover of the TV and swtich it ON. Listeen very carefully which transfromer makes the buzzing noise. Just trouch and press the core of the transformer suspected with some non-cunductive material like glass rod, or a stick of dry wood. You can identify the transformer that makes noise by this way. After identifying the exact transformer; switch OFF the set, unplug it from mains socket, apply some "Super Glue" like fast boanding glue to the joint of core of that transformer. Allow sometime for the glue to set. This will solve the buzzing sound problem of your TV. OK

The yellow or red light would mean a control board that is bad or going bad. The buzzing sound could just be the transformer not uncommon to hear a buzzing sound from the transformer.

Our Yamaha clavinova CLP-115 is buzzing, even with

Without power to the unit no sound should be generated. Make sure there are no other connections.

MAYBE you have a wall transformer behind it that is buzzing. MANY wall transformers develop buzz.

Another source is flourescent lights and even some of the low voltage halogens have noisy transformers in the base.

Please see http://www.fixya.com/support/t1011937-transformers. It sounds like your flyback transformer is not properly soldered down/is failing.
