Re: Seems to be a Burned out lens

Ok the two swithces ,,,im guessing the reset/eject button ... you cant push them both at the same time ... when you replaced the lens ..the ribbon cable that came out of it if you look real good there is a black or tan tab that lifts up and down to hold it in place if you dont have it back in place you wont have power to it same goes for where it plugs in to the the machine((the ribbon cable holder))because when you take the ribbon cable out the tab dosent lift up so when your putting it back in you wouldnt notice it..
look close youll see.

Power works; fan spins;light is on; promo screen works; disc won't read; disk won't spin

The most likely situation you have here is that the cd drive lens isn't reading, just because with a gamecube, it relies on that lens to detect if there is a disc inserted. Your best bet is to try and clean the lens with a que tip and some rubbing alcohol. Be gentle, only very gentle wipes back and forth in a circular motion, then dry it the same way. If that doesn't work, I can give you some tips on how to rip the thing apart and see if it is a connection inside somewhere

Our system will not read and play the game disks

if the system is modded, burned discs tend to kill the laser lens quicker. if not modded perhaps dust on lens. wii dissassembly is required. you will need a triwing screwdriver. add a little rubbing alcohol to a q-tip. rub lens clean.

My ps2 (original) wont read any disks (games or dvd) it just sits on the Browser and System configuration screen, how can i fix this

If it has not suffered any blows or impacts, then all you need to do is simply clean you lens. Hoe you do this is you can either blast it with canned air from the tray or if you like you can take it apart and ther will be 4 small screws holding a plate covering the tray and lens, remove it and you will see everything. you either continue blasting air on it or you can get some clean Q-tips and some rubbing alcohol or purer and rub the lens lightly and that will remove what dirt there may be on it. The lens is sensitive os whatever cleaning and repair (or damage) will have a drastic effect on it.

My PS2 tells me "this disk can't be read".

HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail and both lens. This is housed in the loading dock assembly(Drive). This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.

You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more.

PS3 won't read disk

HI, the optical lens assembly has failed. either the lens has burned out or, the spin motor has failed as well.

replacing the optical lens assembly will correct this issue.

Contact Sony for this repair if possible.

Disk drive will not read games all of a sudden.

HI, this will occur when the optical lens assembly fails. this will require you to replace the entire optical lens assembly(lens has burned out or, possible spin motor failuer).

Contact Sony for this repair.

My 360 keeps saying unreadable disk no matter what game i put in

Ok, this is optical lens assembly failure. the lens is burned out and unable to scan due to lens failure. simply replacing the dvd rom optical lens assembly will restore the reading ability of your unit.

Ps2 not reading disc.

First you need to define what it IS and IS NOT reading. You'll need to run some tests.

Test 1: use a regular music CD (NON BURNED) (RETAIL) disk and put that into your ps2 and see if it starts playing it.

Test 2: insert a regular DVD (NON BURNED) (RETAIL) disk and try to play that.

If neither will play then it is one of two things. Your laser lens is out of alignment, or your laser lens is damaged.

If one plays but not the other, it is the potentiometer pots on the back of the PS2 lens that need adjusting. You can read more about that on one of my other posts ::.HERE.::

Disc won't spin. Disc doesn't show up in browser

You got a problem with the lasers data getting back to the Motherboard.
One of these could be your problem

  1. Laser lens is melted. Look at the lens with a magnifying glass to see if it or its supporting frame is melted. REplace the laser in this case.
  2. The ribbon Cable going from the Laser to the motherboard is damaged or loose.
  3. Your laser is burned out. Press the two interlock to override the door being open, to see if the laser even lights up. 2 switches, one at rear left corner, one behind the On/reset switch.
  4. Your Laser is dirty and needs cleaning look at it with a magnifying Glass to make sure you got it clean. Use Q-tip and window glass cleaner, not alcohol.
