Cannot scroll up with my Blackberry Curve 8310 trackball

It is a very common problem. You just need a new trackball. Should be about $25. If you want to make it work temporary, then just removed it and clean the trackball and the phone part under it (on the phone itself) with 99% alcohol. It might work for a while again

The tracking ball rotates but it does not move over the icons on the left side. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Depending on how comfortable you are with removing the trackball it's not hard to fix... you may have some dirt or grit interfering with the trackball and/or sensors. Take a small screwdriver or blade and gently pop the silver ring around the trackball off. This will free the actual trackball housing. Use an old toothbrush to clean everything. I also soaked the trackball in a little rubbing alcohol. Just make sure it is completely dry before reassembling. If that doesn't work you can purchase replacement trackballs from places like crackberry.com.

Trackball reinsert blackberry curve 8310

Usually the clips of the chrome ring break and don't snap back into the frontplate. There are :Blackberry Curve Repair Guidesonline that show you how to disassemble the Curve, if need be.
