Hello, Yesterday morning, I have installed a second screen linked to my graphic card. I tried to install a 3rd screen on the VGA motherboard, and it didn't work so I take it off. I could work on the...

from recent experience , it is the graphic card that has failed
I had a problem of the 2 screens suddenly going and then coming back on and a message the the nvidia kernal 387. suffered a fault recovered fully but the second screen never came back the same as screen 1
After I removed the card to fit a new card , that unfortunately had a different connection and therefore wouldn't connect a monitor , the computer would turn on a green light but would not turn on the system fans and all
I built a new mother board and the same thing--green light and nothing
I read forums and picked up this information. The computer in doing a hardware check before it goes to BIOS found a problem and stopped
the advice was to remove all hardware then insert a bit at a time until the problem surfaced
I fitted a ram card and the fans started
installed a monitor of the motherboard gva socket and it lit up
installed the graphics card with the vga connected to a monitor and it lit up
connected the second monitor and back to square one
end result , the original mother board is functional, the graphic card is stuffed
yours is probably the same

Destop PC sudenly the screen became black

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty
if its a 40 pin IDE it will be the first to fail

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions

even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

hope this helps you

make sure your ram modules are securely seated with no dust in the sockets also the Cmos battery has charge with no dust in the socket
if this fails to fix the problem
or it might be your graphics card make sure its securely seated and there is no dust in the socket or dust built up on and around the graphics card
hope this helps you

Signal to monitor lasts for about 20 seconds then stops (initial installation of pci-e card). Neither new graphics port or onboard port works after 20 seconds

Ok, i have two things to ask 1: Where is the video card on a emachines W3503? 2: Could a video card swap be done between a W3503 and a W3052? Thank you for viewing :)

1. The emachines W3503 has an integrated ATI Radeon™ X300 based graphics card. It has also a PCI Express (PCIe x16) slot available.

2. The emachines W3052 has a NVIDIA® GeForce®4™ MX graphics card. I'm not sure whether it is integrated or not, but I'm sure that if it is not, it will be an AGP graphics card. Since The emachines W3503 has a PCI Express (PCIe x16) slot available for installing a graphics card, the swapping of graphics cards between the 2 machines is not possible since they support different types of graphics cards.

Monitor image is totally distorted

First remove the graphics card and use the integrated AGP to check if the monitor is OK. Repairing graphic cards are dicy unless the damage is clearly identified, but no assurance since it must have damaged some other component too. So get a new graphic card if the monitor is OK.....................sodeep

Geforce 2 MX-400 (64 bit) with vista

Before you installed the Geforce graphics card was your monitor connected to a video output on the motherboard?
If this is he case you may have to disable the onboard video card from the BIOS.
You can check by swapping the monitor's video connector between each of the video outputs.
If Vista detects a video card and you had not installed the video driver, it would install standard VGA driver, you can then install the Geforce driver.
