Question about Intertherm P3RA-036K Air Conditioner

1 Answer

The Air Conditioners coils on the inside unit freeze up and I have to wait until the coils on the unfreeze to get cold air again. My AC unit is on the outside and the unit with the coils is on the inside. What could be the problem?

Check your air filter. If it is plugged the coils can freeze up.

Unit freezies ,blow does not blow sometimes

Your unit was run without filters in place and the coil has a dirt/fuzz coating that gets wet from condensation and then freezes when unit is on. When this happens less and less cold air comes out of vents making unit run continuously . The fix. Turn the AC off and run fan only until air flow returns to normal and air is warm. Then carefully remove debris from return air coil on the air filter side

Why is my brisk air duo therm rv ac freezing up on the inside.

Where you see frost all the time, wait for unit to thaw and start cooling again and carefully slide hand up in that hole and see if you can feel cool air leaking in from divider that separates cool and return air, that will cause freeze-ups as well. Use foil tape if necessary to stop any cool air coming in to return air from around divider. Also, if you have any diffusers closed, (on ducted system in ceiling) or partially closed, open them all up full flow. If you restrict the cold air from coming out too much, it can also cause freeze up. One more thing, take cover off where cool air box is and double check that something isn't restricting the flow of cold in to the duct work if it has ducted system.

Why does my ac freeze up

Hello, air conditioners will freeze either due to low airflow.....such as dirty filter, dirty evaporator coil, weak or not running blower motor. Also, a low refrigerant charge can cause the unit to freeze up.

My A/C freezing its coils, while the fans keep running. The AC unit (outside) keep running and never stop caused the coils freezing. It doesn't matter when I turn off or set it to Cool position, the...

Sounds like the contactor in the condensing unit is stuck. That is why it will not turn off when the thermostat is satisfied. If the inside air handler is not blowing and the outside condensing unit is running, then this will cause the inside coils to freeze up rather quickly.
The contactor is located in the outside condensing uni in the electrical compartment.
If it is sticking it will need to be replaced.

Ice is forming on coil fins

Either your coil is dirty or filter is dirty. Worst case your low on freon which would make a coil freeze. But freon doesn't evaporate if your low there must be a slow leak.

Heater,....

First check your air filters and make sure the inside and outside coil are clean. If they are clean and you are getting good air flow over the coils then you probably will have to get the unit charged.

if your system is a heat pump you can switch to heat and see if coil outside gets cold while indoor blows warm air - then switch back to a/c - both coils should not be cold at the same time - low freon pressure / dirty coil / dirty filter / low air flow causes freezing

No its not. Bad valves are caused by dirty filers, dirty coils that cause liquid refrigerant to slug compressor and knockout the valves. Rus

AC Fan doesn't blow cold air, frozen coil noticed outside, resetting power resolves temporarily

You need to call a reputable service technician.  The freezing up usually is associated with a low refrigerant charge or low air flow.  Check your return air filter and replace as needed.

My Coleman Evcon AC unit ices up everytime I turn the unit on

If the AC unit doesn't have sufficient air flow to carry away the cold air then condensation and the extra cold air will freeze at the unit. good air flow is the solution. Change the filters, clean the unit by removing the covers and looking for pet hair/leaves/dirt inside the coils of the unit. and make sure the ducting is connected and not clogged.
