Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

2 Answers

Some Gmail features have failed to load due to an Internet connectivity problem. If this problem persists, try reloading the page, using https, using the older version, or using basic HTML mode. Learn More. OK This is the message when I get into e mail and that is if I get in. It used to be occasionally, but now it appears over and over. Also I don't recall that g mail sat and downloaded maybe a dozen or more items after I get in, and heaven only knows what they are because I can't see any of it. I am on dial up so imagine what kind of frustation I am going through. G mail had been working very well for me up until lately so I don't understand what has happened and I haven't seen any help screen things that are like the problems I am having. One thing I don't understand is internet options under programs outlook express is listed for e mail when I am using gmail. Is this right. ?? I also don't know where to add gmail there. Sorry for being lengthy and bothering you but I don't know anywhere else to go. Thank You !!!

If you can get the page open, see if you can load it in HTML mode, this is lighter in data, and hopefully should render better over dialup connections.

the message itself does suggest this: "or using basic HTML mode."

You may be prevented from accessing your Gmail account in the Google Chrome browser for a number of reasons.

Although both programs are Google products, there may be a firewall, browser or software conflict causing the Gmail page not to load.

Going through a few basic troubleshooting steps can usually clear up the matter and get you back into your Gmail account.

Click the "Wrench" icon at the top-right corner of the browser window and select "Options" from the menu.

Go to the "Under the Hood" section.
Click the "Clear Browsing Data" button near the top of the options page.

A popup window appears.
Check the boxes for "Empty the Cache" and "Delete Cookies and Other Site and Plug-in Data."

Change the "Obliterate the Following Items From" to "The Beginning of Time" option, then click the "Clear Browsing Data" button.

Clearing out the browser's stored files often helps to make websites load properly and perform better.

Check your firewall settings.
Click the "Start" button and type "Firewall" into the search box.

Click "Windows Firewall." In the application, click the "Allow a Program or Feature Through Windows Firewall" from the left column.

Check the box for "Chrome.exe" from the program list.
When done, click the "OK" button.

You may have other firewall software installed, so check those settings if necessary to allow Google Chrome full access to the Internet.

Disable browser extensions. Periodically, an extension may cause a conflict in the browser and prevent you from loading Gmail properly or entirely.

Click the "Wrench" icon at the upper-right corner of the window, go to the "Tools" menu and select "Extensions."

Click the "Disable" link for any Gmail-specific extensions, such as "Better Gmail" or "Google Mail Checker."

If Gmail still doesn't load, temporarily disable all extensions one by one until it works.
Log into Gmail using a non-secure connection.

For example, if you normally use the secure connection or "https" prefix, then you want to type "http://mail.google.com/mail" for the website address.

If you already use the non-secure connection, try using the secure connection by typing "https://mail.google.com/mail" instead for the address.

Try a different browser other than Google Chrome to see if the problem lies with Gmail.

The Gmail servers may be experiencing difficulties for a wide number of users or just specifically your account.

Sometimes troubleshooting the browser or firewall software will not correct the issue.

If the problem still persists on a different browser or computer system, then wait a while before attempting to access Gmail again.

The loading issue may be resolved by then.

Gmail pages have reduced in size so small that i cannot read them

If you're using Microsoft Internet Explorer, try:
View > Text Size > Medium (button)

then Left-click the "Reload" button to reload the Gmail page. If should reload using the specified text size.

Alternatively, the browser could be exited, then re-entered to reset the page text size to the default value (medium).
