You need to set it up. Make sure the physical connection is plugged in correctly. The modem connect to the Internet Port of the router and your PC to port 1. Run the setup disc that came with the router. If it doesn't work, reset the router first by pressing the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power for 20 second and plug it back in.

I have a speedstream internet modem and 3/4 lights are on all except the internet light. I am not sure what to do because that is causing my wireless router to go out. Please help. Thank you

The most common solution for this is to disconnect/unplug the power supplies from both the internet modem and the router, they may be one and the same, then wait a full minute or two then plug them back in. The power should now be recycled and back to working status. Restart your computer so it grabs a new IP address. If this doesn't work then call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and have them help you confirm signal from their end. They may send you another router or help change the proprietary settings.

My router has internet access but does not have Wireless function, i.e. WLAN light is off. also, when I type 192.168.1.1, it says Server is busy. i could not connect to the router via the internet.

First, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. The router may be locked up. If that doesn't work, take a pen or paper clip and press the small reset button on the back of the router. This will reset the router back to factory settings. If after resetting the router you still have no wireless function and cannot access the router through a browser, it may be time for a new router.

My wireless light on my router doesn't light up, I been trying to access my router for internet for my phone and tried several things. Any ideas?

Easiest solution first: Unplug the router for 1 minute and plug it back in. See if it works.

Second solution: Log into the router via the built in ethernet switch and see if the wireless capability got switched off by itself (Rare, but it happens). Switch the wireless capability back on.

(BTW, is that the only light that does not light up?)

I can not connect to the Internet. I have WiFi connection but can't do anything else

Plug your computer/laptop directly into router. Can you get to the Internet then?
If you CANNOT get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router, reboot your router. If it doesn't have a power switch, unplug it. Leave it unplugged. Next, you need to figure out if you have another modem for DSL or Cable. If you do have another DSL or Cable modem, unplug that device to. After 5 minutes has elapsed for both devices being unpowered, plug in the DSL or Cable modem to the power source. Keep the router unplugged from power. After your DSL or Cable modem has powered up for 5 minutes, plug your router into the power source. Wait a few minutes. Reboot your computer/laptop. Try the wireless connection again.
If you CAN get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router. Reboot your computer. Try to connect again. If you cannot connect after rebooting, make sure you are connecting to YOUR OWN wireless access point and not someone else's.
Do you have other computers/laptops/wifi devices that CAN/CANNOT connect to your wireless / access the Internet?

Power down your router and computer. Wait 15 seconds, then turn on the router first, then the computer. If this doesn't work, you can also try rebooting the modem as well. You will then need to power all three down, then start with the modem and wait a minute as it boots up and runs its auto-tests, then the router, then the computer.

My Belkin F5D8236-4 v3 Router won't turn on. We had a storm last night and the power went out but the router won't turn on. I have tried to plug it into different outlets to see if that would work...

Try resetting the router. There should be a little hole somewhere on it with a button inside that you can press with a paperclip. Try holding that button down while you unplug then plug the router in while holding it (if possible). If that doesn't work, I'd suspect the storm might've damaged the router somehow. Was it plugged into a surge protector, and/or have you noticed any other issues with anything else that was turned on at the time?

I am trying to connect a wrt150n wireless linksys router to my dsl. I am using a desktop windows 7 and laptop windows vista. Please help, I have tried everything but it just does not want to work.

unplug everything, including ethernet cables. then work in this exact order.
if you get a wireless signal and no internet, plug a computer in into the router in one of the available ports and check for internet. If no internet, unplug everything and test the modem without the router. If internet available without the router, then follow these instructions
  1. plug phone line into modem
  2. plug power into modem
  3. wait for all lights to become steady
  4. plug ethernet cable into modem
  5. plug other end of same cable into port labled "internet"
  6. wait for lights to become constant on both router and modem
  7. check your wireless device for wireless service.
if you dont get a wireless signal at all, plug your device into the rear of the router and type 192.168.1.1 in the adress bar
the password and username are both "admin" or simply leave the password blank if that doesn't work

navigate to the wireless option and turn on the wireless transmiter.

mcdevito75 here, The router signal depends on the 4 sattelites that have to be in range for it to connect to the internet, shut down your computer or just restart your computer. If this doesn"t work un--plug router from the computer itself for 20 seconds and plug in again.

Configure Modem Echolife HG520s With WRT54G OR WRE54G

Not sure if I understand properly but your router should have a WAN port or an "Internet" port

your modem should be connected to it and your PC should be on any of the LAN port
