Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

My GE Profile Performance, freezer door doesnt seal at the upper right hand corner. I've already replaced the seal thinking that was the problem and then I noticed that while the two doors line up flush at the bottom, the freezer door sticks out a bit at the top inner corner. The bottom and top however are level to there isnt a slant. For some reason though that corner pops out and wont create a good seal. As a result of this Im getting a lot of frost and icicles in the freezer starting from that inside corner. Please help! How can I fix this? Model Number TPS24BPCE BS

How to replace ge rpwfe filter

I think on that model there is a long plastic cover on the top right hand corner with a tab in the front. Push tab and cover should hinge down to uncover the filter. Unscrew filter to left and pull forward. Reverse to install new filter.

No, the door is foamed together.
Remove small drip catch at bottom of dispenser area. Use silicone to seal recess along front edge and the two front corners. That should prevent water from getting under the door trim.

Freezer drawer jars open at upper right corner when refrig door is closed. Air leaks in and is forming frost on frozen food.

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

I have a kenmore upright freezer model #253.9266411 there is a gap in the upper left side does anyone know how to adjust the door? The seal is fine

I'm assuming you don't want to replace the door seal. Open the freezer door. Stand "inside" the open door and place your foot at the right bottom corner (looking from the inside). Place your hand in the top right corner and pull it very slightly toward you. Do this in small amounts until the gap closes making sure you don't open one at the bottom.

An alternate method is to warm the gapped section of the door seal with a hair dryer to soften the rubber enough to allow the magnet within the rubber to pull the seal gap closed. This has worked for me numerous times by making small adjustments at a time. Good Luck

First, when the refrigerator is running, open the freezer door and hold in the light switch so the freezer light goes out. You should be able to hear the freezer (evaporator) fan running. If it is running, then you most likely have a problem with the air damper. It is a motorized door in the very upper left side, back corner, of the fresh foods section. The door needs to be open for air to flow into the refrigerator section. If you place your hand near the vent holes at the upper refrigerator section and the freezer fan is running, FF section warm, you should feel cold air entering. If not, the damper door may have broken. It is not real easy to get at to replace, but that is where your problem may be. Be sure to check the freezer fan first, as a non-working icemaker may point in that direction.
