HI. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer/control board
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

My pump is running but not sucking up water


well if possible look into suction screen and see if Impeler is turning , I'll bet not , most of the lil giants come with a easy to remove pump cover (screw) so one can access the pump cavity to remove forign debris , also one can manually rotate impeller with finger (unplugged) to ck for free movement , if its hard to move your pump needs replacement

Machine does not pump all water out and after while PU flashes most of the time its just at the end of spray rinse have checked the pump and it dosnt appear to be blocked but impellor may be a bit worn...


Normally the spraying is done with a timed sequence as it depends on the program choice. So if this is a hard wash the timing will be longer.
The pumping pressure will depend on the pressure pump and water input. If low you need to check for clogging of the pump. Also residual water in the machine is due to poor drain, fault in drain pump, dirt accumulation in drain filter. remove and clean.

The tub wont drain


Now for the repairs -

1. Remove all the clothing that is in the washer.

2. Remove all the water you can via a siphon hose technique.

3. Remove drain line from its drain and put it in a shallow bucket on floor and drain out whatever water it may have. Turn off cold and hot water feeds and remove drain lines. Drain water from them.

Now for the hard work - a helper is probably needed. You may wish to take digital photos of things before you take them apart so you get them back together properly later (I strongly recommend you do this). Get the tool box, a flash light, and an extension light out - you will need them.

4. Tip washer over on its side - and watch for and collect any water that it may have still in it. Remove the drain hose from the water pump (the drain hose connects to the pump). Remove belt from water pump. Remove water pump and take it apart. Make sure nothing is blocking the pump itself (a laundry item may be there); reassemble pump and make sure it spins freely at the belt pulley. Check the drain line from tub to pump - and make sure it is clean. You usually have to also remove the solenoid valve that is opened to permit draining as well - just follow the line to the tub. Make sure solenoid valve feed line has nothing blocking it. Once the entire drain line, drain solenoid valve, and pump are clear and clean, reconnect everything properly. Return washer to upright position. Connect water hoses and drain line.

How to replace water pump 2003 alero. 3400 engine.


Removal & Installation 2.2L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. If equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the exhaust manifold..
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Right front wheel and tire assembly.
    • Right front fender liner. chevy_cav_02-04_accescover.gif

    • Access plate on the water pump sprocket from the timing cover.
  6. Install J 43651 water pump sprocket holder or equivalent to the water pump sprocket.
  7. Use the access plate bolts to attach J43651 to the engine front cover.
  8. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Bolts that secure the sprocket to the water pump.
    • Bolt that secures the engine block to the water pump.
    • Bolt that secures the engine front cover to the water pump.
    • Feed pipe that joins the thermostat housing to the water pump. chevy_cav_02-04_wp.gif

    • 2 Bolts that secure the water pump to the engine block.
    • Water pump.
To Install:
  1. Use a threaded stud in the hub to align the water pump sprocket.
  2. Install or connect the following:
    • Water pump.
    • 2 bolts that secure the water pump to the engine block.
    • Feed pipe that joins the thermostat housing to the water pump.
    • Front cover bolt and the bolt that secures the engine block to the water pump. Tighten the bolts to 15 ft lbs (20 Nm).
    • 2 of the bolts that secure the water pump sprocket to the water pump.
  3. Remove the threaded stud.
  4. Install the last bolt.
    • Tighten the bolts to 89 in lbs (10 Nm).
  5. Remove J 43651.
  6. Install the access plate on the water pump sprocket to the timing cover.
  7. Install the access plate bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts to 18 in lbs (10 Nm).
  8. Install the front fender liner.
  9. Install the right front tire and wheel.
  10. If equipped with an automatic transmission, install the exhaust manifold.
  11. Fill the cooling system.
  12. Connect the battery ground cable.
2.4L Engine To Remove:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold.
  4. Remove the coolant intake pipe as follows:
    1. Remove the coolant inlet pipe bolts.
    2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
    3. Remove the engine splash shield.
    4. Remove the bolts from the transaxle-to-engine block brace and remove the brace.
    5. Remove the radiator hose from the coolant inlet pipe.
    6. Remove the coolant inlet pipe to oil pan bolt.
    7. Remove the coolant inlet pipe, thermostat and seal.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Disconnect the heater hose quick connect from the heater outlet pipe.
  7. Remove the front timing chain cover and the chain tensioner.
  8. Unfasten the water pump-to-cylinder block bolts.
  9. Remove the water pump-to-timing chain housing nuts.
  10. Remove the water pump and cover mounting bolts and nuts.
  11. Remove the water pump and cover as an assembly. Separate the two pieces after removal.
  12. Clean the mating surfaces.
To Install:
  1. Install the water pump cover to the water pump assembly.
  2. Install and hand tighten the pump cover mounting bolts.
  3. Install water pump cover assembly.
  4. Install and hand tighten the cover-to-block mounting bolts.
  5. Install and hand tighten the water pump-to-timing chain housing nuts.
    • Tighten the water pump-to-timing chain housing mounting nuts to 19 ft lb (26 Nm).
    • Tighten the water pump cover-to-water pump mounting bolts to 124 in lb (14 Nm).
    • Tighten the water pump cover-to-engine block bolts starting with the bottom bolt first to 19 ft lb (26 Nm).
  6. Install the heater hose to the water pump pipe.
  7. Using new gaskets, install the exhaust manifold.
  8. Install the oil level indicator and tube.
  9. Connect the brake vacuum tube to the cam housing.
  10. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  11. Install the catalytic converter.
  12. Install the coolant inlet pipe.
    • Tighten the inlet pipe-to-oil pan bolt to 19 ft lb (26 Nm). Tighten the coolant inlet pipe bolt to 124 in lb (14 Nm).
  13. Install the timing chain and tensioner.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Connect the oxygen sensor.
  16. Fill cooling system and check the system for leaks.
3.4L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Drive belt.
    • Water pump pulley bolts and pulley.
    • Water pump bolts, pump and gasket.
    • Clean the water pump mating surfaces.
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Water pump gasket and pump.
    • Water pump bolts.
      1. Tighten the water pump bolts to 89 in lbs (10 Nm).
    • Water pump pulley and bolt until snug.
    • Drive belt.
  2. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 18 ft. lbs (25 Nm).
  3. Fill the cooling system.
  4. Check for leaks.
  5. Connect the battery ground cable.

How to replace the water pump on a 1992 geo tracker 1.6 liter engine


Water Pump - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
During these procedures, identify all components removed from the engine so that they may be reinstalled in their original positions. If discarding the old components so that new components can be installed, identifying the old items is not necessary.


1.3L and 1.6L Engines

  1. Remove the timing belt cover, timing belt, tensioner, plate and spring.
  2. Remove the water pump mounting bolts.
  3. Remove the one (1.6L MFI engines) or two (1.3L and 1.6L TFI engines) small rubber seals from between the water pump and the oil pump, and the water pump and the cylinder head.
  4. If necessary for clearance, remove the oil level dipstick tube retaining bolt from the engine block and the alternator adjusting brace.

WARNING Do NOT use a prybar between the water pump housing and the engine block to separate the two components; this can cause scratches and/or gouges, which can prevent proper sealing.
  1. Pull the water pump off of the engine block. If the water pump is difficult to remove from the engine block, use a soft-faced mallet to tap the water pump housing until it loosens.
Do not disassemble the water pump; if the water pump is damaged or defective, the entire unit is replaced.
  1. Thoroughly clean the water pump gasket mating surfaces of old gasket material and corrosion.
To install:
  1. Along with a new gasket, install the water pump on the engine block. Tighten the water pump mounting bolts to 88-115 inch lbs. (10-13 Nm).
  2. On 1.3L and TFI 1.6L engines, install two new rubber seals: one between the water pump and oil pump, and the other between the water pump and the cylinder head. The MFI 1.6L engines only use one rubber seal, located between the water and oil pumps.
  1. If removed, install the alternator adjusting brace and the oil level dipstick retaining bolt.
  2. Install the timing belt, tensioner, plate, spring and cover.

After it completes wash cycle there is water left in the washer


Check to see if anything is restricting the water flow. Remove the hoses from the pump. Sometimes socks and other small items will block the pump. The pump is only given so much time to empty out all the water. If nothing is blocking the flow than replace the pump. If there are items check to see if it did damage to the pump.

My LG WM 1260FHD is displaying OE. I have cleaned out the filter (4times) and have manually had to drain it 5-6times. Ihave now tried it with out clothes in it & the water does not seem to drain from...


Hi

You either have something blocking the pump propellors or the pump itself has failed.

You need to get to the pump. I suggest laying the machine on its back. Disconnect the power and hoses before hand.

There is a cap on the pump, where it joins to the filter cavity. You need to unscrew that cap. I believe they are star shaped screws. Once you remove the cap, look to see if anything has gone through the filter and blocked the propellors. Alot of times it may be a hair pin or some small object. If there is nothing there, then I suggest replacing the pump. Make sure when you are putting the pump back on, that you have the O-ring sealer in place.

I need to see an exploded view of the front half, of the 3.0 motor. Have a cooling fluid leak(hard to find) and trying to determine if it is the water pump or a crack in the block.


Good chance the water pump is leaking. THe back of the water pump sits in a valley (for lack of better description) within the motor. It is an open area that the intake manifold goes over. Off the water pump is a tube (@ 1" in diameter) that runs to the back of the block. If you like I have a manual I could scan portions of and forward, email please.
My money says its the water pump though,
FYI: the water pump is driven by the timing belt, needless to say the front of the engine will need to be removed. When you replace the water pump, install a new timing belt and tensioner too. I have done this several times on average it takes @ (5) hours. Take your time, be patient, take digital photos, mark what goes where and enjoy the process.

Water Inlet Valve for Maytag MDB3100


You can save considerable money if you change the valve yourself. I sold Maytag dishwashers for over 25 yrs. and there are still a lot of those out there. Very simple to work on and last a long time with minimal maintenance.
