Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer

Clunking noise, like a tennis shoe, top right rear of dryer

I too have a clunking noise, like a tennis shoe, when the dryer is running empty or full. The noise is isolated in the top right rear corner. The noise is like someone banging the tennis shoe on the side of the dryer. Any suggestions?

HI sounds to me like your drum support is worn, it would make a thumping sound. You have 2 you should replace them both.
If you are needing a part - call this toll free number 1 877-489-5610, I have used them many times, they are the best. Best of all overnight shipping!

CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM REAR AXLE PASSANGER SIDE SEAL LEAKING GROOVE WORN IN AXLE COULD THAT CAUSE THE CLUNKING NOISE 01 FORD F-150

you have a seal leak causing the differential oil to get onto the rear brakes shoes.what is happening is the brakes grab the drum and shift until they can`t move(turn)any more causing the clunking noise.the groove in the axle if it is bad enough then it will need a axle sleeve installed which gives the axle were the groove is a smooth surface,it is a thin metal sleeve the diameter of the axle that is installed on the axle.

My dryer (maytag atlantis) has started making a loud clunking noise with each revolution. its still drying fine but sounds terrible. any thoughts?

A loose belt will allow the drum to slip when clothes hit the paddles in the drum. It sometimes sounds like a pair of tennis shoes are in the dryer when it slips and is usually rythymic.

These machines also use drum rollers that can make a racket when they go bad.

Dryer drum stopped rotating, dryer blower continues to work.

The belt probably broke, and coincidentally happened while drying the shoes. The belt is easy to replace. Open the back and you'll probably see the belt laying on the bottom

There is a clunking noise -like a tennis shoe in the dryer- when i turn it on even when empty I made a mistake on the e-mail i entered rwhite26@cox.net not ewhite26@cox.net please correct and...

Press the door switch with the door open and set no-heat run. Try to locate the position of the noise. If it remains in one place, that is where you need to look inside the case. If it seems to be moving all around, release the switch and try to move the drum side to side and up and down, looking for a very loose bearing. There may be a segment of the drive belt that could be missing. Check the drum interior for loose bars fastened to the inner rim.

Dryer making loud clunking noise

Make sure the drum is not catching the back panel, and that the fan is not loose on the motor.
