Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Menus are black, cannot read

We ended up with Philips 60pp9202. We can't get the color adjusted because when you go into the menus the words are black and there is a black menu box around them in parts of the menus. It makes it very confusing to adjust and in some parts not being able to tell at all what you're adjusting. Any idea what's wrong?

Character generator could be off. Is the pix normal otherwise?

Pictures are blurry and colors not bright Philips 60PP9202 HDTV

Something easy to try: with set unplugged remove back cover and locate the three large lens (black plastic housings) and clean the lens with either a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it.

The lens are your light source and if dusty the picture will be darker and look somewhat dull.

Let me know if you have questions.

I have a Philips projection screen hd tv great picture but the color is way out off adjustment

see attached photo, it is a convergence problem.

If you have similar problem in customer menu is a way with the remote to adjust.

If it will not adjust there then the convergence chips are bad.

We have a 60 inch philips tv that started to have problem with overexposed color (blue) i thought that i could fix this, i moved the lenses a bit rendomly, that did help a little, but then i touched the...

Thats the screen controls. To adjust it turn the color level down to zero, Then adjust the 3 knobs by balancing them to where the best black and white picture is acheived. Then turn the color level up and that should do it. Just be careful not to turn the settings too low or the CRTs will refuse to light after the set gets turned off. If that happens you will need to turn each adjustment up a little and the CRTs will relight then you will need to adjust it more. If you cannt get a good black and white picture you will need to replace the Coolant in the CRts.

You have contaminated coolant fluid in the blue and green picture tubes.I do not reccomend that you attempt this repair.A shop should be able to get this unit looking like new again for about $275.

Philips 60" HDTV

If the blue looks like an aura of light around the picture then it is likely to be a problem with the color wheel, probably it should be replaced.

Try first doing a color auto balancing (magic focus) and see how it goes, probably you will need to replace color wheel.

Three colors are not together

OK, Time to fix it !!. Replace two Ic's Stk 392-110, and get in service menu settings , and adjust point by point. After replaced stk IC's, check if any resistor look brown or born, if yes, replaced it with 6.8 Ohms. If you have questions? . Good Luck !!

Toshiba theaterview 50in rear projection tv

Look at it on the QVC channel where you have boxes with straight lines. If any of the 3 colors are bowed and 1 inch off, then it needs parts inside. If the colors are straight and only 1/4 inch off, you can adjust it. Using the remote, in the menus find convergence to adjust. Your user manual will explain it. At you can download the manual if you do not have it.
