What is the process for resetting factory setting?

Press and Hold CTRL + F11 when you see the blue bar at the top of the screen that has www.dell.com (this will be soon after powering on the machine). It will then display "Dell Recovery by Symantec Ghost" or something similar. Choose the restore option and then follow through the prompts.

RE: DELL Inspiron 1300 Hello, Would a 14" screen

NO! it will fit in the opening but it will not have anything holding it in. So while yes it technically will "fit" it wont work as the screen will fall out every time you close it!

Dell Inspiron 1300 blank monitoe

Hello,

the problem might be from the screen or from the screen inverter.

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and try again.

If there is a display, then its obvious that the problem is from screen or screen inverter of your laptop.

Good luck.

MY DELL 1525 TURNS ON AND THE NORMAL BLUE SCREEN APPEARS. THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT GOES BRIGHT GREEN, THEN BRIGHT YELLOW, AND STAYS BRIGHT YELLOW

Hello,
Please connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if the output is the same. If it displays fine on the monitor, then we are looking at either a screen cable problem or a screen problem. If the display is the same as on the laptop, then it is a problem with the display adapter on the mother board.

All the best.

Dell inspiron 1300 display

Hi,
Does this happen regardless of operating system state? (e.g. if you interrupt normal booting to windows)? You could try booting from e.g. linux live cd to see whether the issue is operating system-specific or if it's caused by a hardware problem.
I've seen very similar symptoms on several Thinkpad T41s where ATI graphics chips were failing, I hope it's not the case with your dell.
Good luck,
Raf

Dell Inspiron 1300 - When I re-open the lid,Screen stays Black !

Your laptop either goes to hibernate or sleep mode when you close the lid. Then, when you open the lid up, the screen is still off because your pc already hanged/froze and could not wake up at all (usual problem in vista). Off course, hard shutdown would fix it. But actual fix is under power options on your control panel. Check your current scheme and edit it. There are options there that you can select to "do nothing when closing the lid"

Hope this helps

Vista is not letting things go away

It's sounds like it may be an issue with the screen refresh rate. From your desktop right click and select properties. Then select the display tab. From there, choose the option to reset to default settings.

My Dell Inspiron 1300 wont start

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Dell inspiron 1300 back light problem

All laptops have a backlight and an inverter to power it, and the problem you have is very common. Usually replacing the inverter board in the display fixes the trouble. There are a number of vendors online offering replacement parts. Here is one that just popped up after a Google search. You can also find videos on youtube showing the procedure for opening up the display to install the new part. It's a simple process that most people can handle with a little patience and some small tools.

It's also possible the light itself has gone bad, but the inverter failure is more common. The backlight on some displays is not replaceable separately. So try the less expensive inverter replacement first.
