Question about Campbell Hausfeld 26 - Gallon Air Compressor

Hitachi twin chamber/MDR 21 Pressure switch

110vac Starts and fills fine. as soon as pressure release stopps releasing the motor trys to start.I adjusted the Main calibration nuts out
to cut out at a much lower setting like 40psi. Still does it trys to start then trips my 15 amp breaker. Is this an indication that the windings are possible cause. I did find the load side wires (motor) were very lose
on the pressure switch. For how long I have no idea. I fixed that problem.

I switch the pressure washer on motor starts pressure builds up motor stops. OK pull the trigger on the lance the moter starts sounds different water pressure low. Release trigger motor still runs.

It isnt very clear your explanation of the problem but what type washer do you have first? It sounds like you have a bad unloader or need a new variable nozzle tip. Can you explain in more clear detail. Thanks

EC89 HARD TRIPS RESET ON COLD STARTS.SOMETIMES WONT FILL AT ALL.WHEN IT DOES WILL NOT FILL PAST 50PSI

Several things to check. Check amp draw with meter to make sure that the reset is not bad. It amp meter is showing low amp draw when it trips, then replace reset. If reset is good check condition of the cold start valve. The valve will not allow pressure to build until motor is at full rpm and the pump is making good pressure/volume. If cold start valve does not close, check pump for leaking or broken reed valves. If cold start valve is good, check the capacitor for at least 10 percent of rated valve. Low pressure /volume is usually leaks from tubing or leaking /broken reed valves or burned gaskets in the head of the pump. Finally, make sure that the check valve or non-return valve is not leaking pressure from the tank causing back pressure. Good luck

The problem is quiet obvious and it is the water level pressure switch behind and connected to the load size switch knob. The pressure switch is stuck in the full position that's why the machine doesn't fill and it goes directly to agitate. Holding the load size switch in between load sizes releases the contacts from full position and allow the machine to fill as long as the switch is held on.

Disconnect power then release the console from the top of the cabinet depending on the model of your machine then pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.

Behind and connected to the load size switch under the console is the water level pressure switch with a clear hose attached to it.

The overload keeps tripping

I have had a Hitachi EC89 compressor for a couple years now. As an Mechanical Engineer with a minor in Electrical, I observe that the motor assembly/capacitor is undersized for the mechanical energy it is asked to produce upon start up. The motor consistently struggles to get up to speed, requiring too much electrical current and then the breaker pops, and you're back to time zero. And the cycle repeats. In other words, the fundamental EC89 design stinks and it should not have been released onto the market in this way. I replaced the capacitor on mine with a more robust G.E. version and it has improved, but fundamentally, there are not enough motor windings to get the system going good & strong, each and every time. Shame on you, Hitachi.

Why does my compreeor switch release the air after reaching the required pressure instead of holding the air at the required pressure??? I've just purchased and fitted a new automatic cut off switch to my...

There are two valves in play here. There is a relief valve that opens when the motor kicks off to release the pressure in the compressor itself. That is normal, and is required so that the motor can restart next time without having to overcome that pressure. The other valve is the problem. It is a reed valve between the compressor and the tank. This valve's job is to prevent the air in the tank from returning to the compressor. Think of it as a ratchet for the air. It is this reed valve that has failed.

Keeps on cycling on and of when not in use?

I believe you have a faulty pressure switch. The black hose reports to the switch what the pressure is and either starts or stops the compressor through the switch. Air is bleeding out of the hose ...causing short cycling ... for some reason. Fix the leak - fix your problem

Air leakage through pressure switch needle

1)Let your unit pump up.
2)Turn it off.
3)Find the supply line from the pump to the tank.
4)Remove the supply line from the pump head.
5a)If you hear air coming from the tank you have a bad check valve.
5b)If you do not hear air coming from the tank, you have a leaky
pressure switch.

Whirlpool Washer Completes 1 Cycle then won't fill

Sounds like you have sticking water level switch, due to possible blockage in the pressure chamber or pressure chamber hose..
You need to check the pressure chamber and the small hose that is attached to it for a blockage,. This problem will cause all of the symptoms you have described.. When it is stood for a while that is why it will work, the pressure releases and the switch will work until the pressure builds up and then it sticks again. The pressure chamber hose goes up to the water level switch

Start up problem

The problem that you describe is caused by the in-tank check valve and/ or the unloader at the pressure switch. When the compressor cycles off the pressure switch releases the air that remains in the air line thru a small valve. There is a 1/4 " plastic tube extending from the check valve to the switch. Listen for the release of air as soon as the compressor stops. There is a small metal tab that pushes on the unloader valve that may need to be adjusted. The motor does not have enough power to start pumping if there is air/backpressure in the air line. If these parts are working correctly then check the value of the start capacitor and use meter to measure. The cap should test within 95 % of stated value. Parts are available at www.chpower.com. Enjoy
