I have a Kenmore gas dryer, 90 plus series. Can't read model # due to fading. The igniter glows red and lites the gas, it stays lit for about 5 seconds and goes out. The cycle repeats about every 40-45 seconds. Won't dry clothes. Can't locate a thermalcoupling, may be it's a different design than the traditional couplings for furnaces or water heaters or maybe it's something else. Could you please help me. THANK YOU!

My Kenmore dryer 80 series will tumble but will not heat, there is no orange glow, or flame. Yes it has been moved several times, needless to say yes I have wet clothes inside.

It could be the ignitor, you have to open the dryer, take the belt off and start it, if you dont see a red glowing light could be the igniter, you have to disconect it and check for voltage, if you have voltage, replace the igniter

Hit it with a big BIG HAMMER!!! NO NO, I'm just kidding! It can be several things, airflow, coils, or thermal fuse. Most common problem is the fuse so thats what I'll cover... UNPLUG DRYER, take back panel off (use 1/4 nut driver) look for the thin white thing with two of the same color wires going to it.(located lower left).... take wires off, then take the fuse off and look at the back of it. is it slightly melted and black? Replace and wala!!!!! GOODLUCK!!!

5 most likely culprits:

From most likely to least likely:

1. Thermal Fuse
2. Thermal Cut-Off
3. Thermostat
4. Heating Element*
5. Ignitor (GAS DRYERS ONLY)

*Cannot be tested with an ohm meter. You must inspect to make sure there is no damage along the coils of the element. All other parts CAN be tested with an ohm meter.

The dryer will not heat up

Instructions
    • 1 Check the cycle selector control to make sure a heating cycle has been selected. The selector should be in an "Off" position when not in use, but it should be turned to a drying cycle when in use. On some models, make sure you are not accidentally running the dryer on the "Air" cycle, which does not use heat.
    • 2 Check the gas supply valve to make sure it is open if your dryer is a gas dryer. If it is not open, just lift the valve open.
    • 3 Look at your house's main breaker box to determine whether a circuit breaker is tripped. The electric dryer runs on 220-240 volts and has a double breaker. If the breaker for the heating element is tripped, the drum may tumble the clothes without heat. Turn the dryer's breakers to off, then back on; test whether the dryer will produce heat.
    • 4 Consult a technician if troubleshooting does not resolve the problem.

I have a Kenmore 80 series gas dryer. Dryer heats

The belt around the drum has come off or broke. The front of your dryer will have to come off to inspect

Dryer runs then stops after short periods (5-10 mins)

THere maybe a thermal limit sensor gone bad. Keeps the dryer from over-heating. Located behind rear panel on most and mounted on the heat tube. Verify with volt/ohm meter if possible

Gas dryer not maintaining heat. 70 Series Kenmore/Whirlpool 76722

Fuse is ok . Problem is the soils on the burner valve . If the dryer heats when started , the electricity goes thru the coils to open the valve . Once the coils get warm , 1 will open (short) until it cools back down . The coils can be replaced just by removing the front panel . Only 2 screws hold the coils in place . No turning off gas , dissasembling dryer .

Dryer heats but does not tumble.

Yes, it is possible that the drum belt is broken.
