Dark picture. Same problem as Marcie123, at about the same age. Evidently just stuck with it. I'm not bad with repairs, though, and I'm willing to try if it doesn't cost too much and I can get some specifics. Thanks.

my tv is so dark regardles pf the setting on standard, dynamic, or sports, I have used the menu to turn up the brightness and everything but tv works well with good picture if only it could be lightened up. I really would like to save this set but it is so impossible to see at all until the room is dark and it still is not light enough.

**WORKS**

In my case, the adjustment was available from outside the TV. Sortof. On the rear of the TVabout 2 inches to the right of the coax in, there are two vertical slits on a little protrusion. Inside the slits are the two adjustment screws. The lower screw adjusts brightness, the upper screw adjusts focus.

Your problem could be the secondary anode cable or CRT socket, and you cannot fix this problem yourself unless you are a techie. It happens when your CRT base socket burns out, or when the pins are rusted or when the spark gap conducts to drain out the secondary anode voltage to the ground. It is better you call a service engineer.

Tube TV - one thin horizontal line of bright light

Vertical defection failure. Common failure. Pretty easy to repair ($50-75?). However, my general rule of thumb is not to waste any more money on TVs over 10 years old. Too much other stuff in there ready to fail as well.

Screen too dark even with all brightness settings set to max

The picture is very dark it is mostly due to 1 power supply output is low. 2 voltage on crt g2 pin is low. 3 video output supply is low. 4 some components in luminance section might be defective or loose. 5 finally crt getting weak is set is old. good luck

The picture on my JVC TV is too dark

On the inside of the TV, on the flyback transformer there should be two controls. Turn the one that says "screen" very slowly clockwise while looking at the pix. The pix should get brighter as you turn it up- if you go to far you will see lines in the pix or the TV may shutdown.
