If you dont want the issue of scratching lay it flat on its side. That way it cant tip over while on and ruin a game or dvd. The bugs so far have been worked out of the system, there is no real way to tell untill we start getting some feedback on the use of the 3rd gen systems.

Is it best to stand the X box 360 up or lay it down while using it,or does it matter? Also since there is a problem with overheating how long should it be played at a time ?

It doesn't matter whether it is standing up or laying down, but you should keep it in an open ventilated area to prevent overheating. If this doesn't fix the problem you should contact customer support.

My new 250gb xbox was playing my brand new game and it started to start screaching so i quikly took it out and there was a perfect ring made into it and when i put it bach in it said 'attempting to read...

This may have been caused by moving the XBox 360 while it was on. Try laying the XBox 360 down horizontally if possible. This is much more stable.

There are devices that can remove scratches from game disks if it is not too deep. Some used game shops will also do this (for a fee).

If your XBox 360 did not move while it was on let me know what you were doing just before it happened. Also if possible try a different game (one you dont care about, get a cheep one from a used game shop). If it happens more then once call Microsoft at Toll free: (800) 4MY-XBOX or (800) 469-9269 if your in the US, if not let me know.

If it is a new xbox you should have a one year warranty if they decide you have a defective unit.

Hope this helps

Saying open tray on my x box 360 pro just started a week ago im trying to found out if there is a replacement disc drive for the x box 360 pro

I had this same problem a year after I purchased my first Xbox 3602_bing.gif. Most of the time this problem is due to dust and dirt getting sucked into the system by the terrible cooling system that the older Xbox 360s have. If your Xbox 360 is over 2 years old then most likely this is your problem. these Xboxes are made to stand up not lay down so if yours is laying down try tilting it upright and play it that way. This fixes the problem 80% of the time. You can also try to blow into some of the openings on your Xbox to get the dirt and dust out but I must admit this rarely works. If after trying both of these things you still have the problem, then it must be fixed by opening up the Xbox and determining the problem with the laser or disk drive. This costs time and money so you better hope that my first two solutions work!

Xbox 360 game compartment wont open

if it's standing straight up, then lay it down. sometimes the drive won't open unless a disc is inside the console. this happens mostly when it's standing straight up. lay it down and it should open. if not, you can take tha face off and stick a paper clip inside the little hole to manually eject the tray.

Scratching my games

Make sure your Xbox 360 is laying flat on it's side rather than standing up on it's end. If the console is standing up and is moved even slightly the disc will almost certainly be damaged.
This video pretty much says it all:

Xbox360 pic goes off

Is your Xbox standing up or laying down....Mine did the same thing when it was standing up and I went to the game store he said it looks cool to stand it up, but it runs better and longer laying down!....If that is not it you could need a new video card which is like $45 or so....Think of the xbox 360 as the closest thing to a computer of all the systems!

X box 360 scratching discs

That is a very odd problem. Unless you have a special warranty, the unit will not get replaced for a new one until it cannot be fixed by a tech. You have to write or e-mail Microsofts contact in your manual and complain about the games getting destroyed by the Xbox. They may want to see copies of the receipts for the games too, but be very firm with them or they will not take you serious.
