The only thing I can think of off hand is the flywheel key. Take the flywheel off and check the key. If it is broken, sometimes you cannot get a spark. Sometimes it will just backfire. Check it and I hope you are sucessful...Lee

Why is oil running out of spark plug hole 6hp. craftsman lawnmower.???

If you have not over filled the oil sump, the only other possible answers; bad oil ring on the piston, oil seals in the heads are bad. These are the only ways oil can get into the combustion chamber.

Craftsman 6hp.lawnmower oil pouring out of spark plug hole

Either someone put to much oil in it or a piston seal has failed. Try removing some of the oil and cleaning out the spark plug port and spark plug (maybe replace the spark plug with a new one. If it is a blown piston seal take it in for service.

Not getting spark in craftsman tractor lawnmower

How old is the engine? Does it have electronic ignition or points? Check the engine stop wire where it attaches to the throttle control on the engine. Make sure it is not grounding out. Has the magneto been removed? That is the Y shaped part behind the flywheel, where the spak plug wire attaches. If the mag has benn removed, it needs to be re-adjusted. The correct gap is .020 of an inch, about the thickness of a matchbook. This gap is measured between the two legs of the mag and the flywheel. I hope this helps, good luck.

Craftsman 21'' Lawn mower won't start

In order for there to be a spark at the plug, make sure the plug is grounded to the engine, it will not "fire" if it isn't.

Remove the cover with the crankrope, there should be a thin black wire going to the coil, going to a ground lug that kills the engine. Try unplugging this wire and re-check the fire...if it fires, there is a fault in this wire and should be replaced. The mower will run without it, but will not stop without "choking" out the engine
