In the comments section Blumm suggests pushing a piece of cardboard (like the back of a legal pad) through the feeder as far as you can. Turn the printer off and then on again with it in there. Pull the cardboard out and check for any foreign objects that have been pushed through.
It worked for many people including myself - I got a piece of plastic and it works wonderfully again!

It's almost always something stuck in there...for me it was a paperclip...the cardboard trick didn't work but it did convince me something was blocking the feed as the cardboard wouldnt go through, but came out with a dent in it where it kept meeting resistance, convincing me SOMETHING was in there. No jiggling upside down would shift it, so I stuck a bread knife under the row of rollers, lifted it up a smidgen, shone a light and saw the culprit! Then while holding the line of rollers up, with a piece of wire fished out the paperclip...so delighted as had just spent loads on new ink cartridges and was thinking Id have to buy a new printer etc...

Canon mp190 printer says there is no paper when there is?

1- take out all paper in tray, is there one that started to go up? \
2-turn printer aound, look at the back there should be a door open, either by squeezing tabs or turning knob.
is there a paper there?
3-did you tear paper when it had a paper jam? there might be a piece stuck on a sensor.
There are actuators that spring back when a paper passes over them, telling the machine if paper is there or not, and for a determined time.
9_6_2012_6_15_36_pm.jpg there should be no more than 3. look for them, see if they move freely and spring back,

When i click print the paper feeds fromright side and jams.

if your paper feed not straight, most probably the feed roller.. the roller which feed the paper is broken.. the normal broken area is the tip holding the roller, it can be repaired if you know how to open the printer and remove the roller.. you can always drill a small hole and insert a small round wood piece..
to be sure, try feeling the roller with your hand first.. if there is much free space between the roller and lower part.. then most probably it's broken..

Error code E 23

E23 is paper feed error.First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output)
is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer. If this not help your printer need service.

My canon printer/copier does not feed paper in machine. makes all the sound but wont feed. help

1. Try cleaning the paper feed rollers

Instructions how to clean the paper feed rollers.
If the paper feed rollers become dirty, they may not be able to properly feed paper due to the feed roller's slippage.
If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:
  1. Open the Printers folder.

    - For Windows XP Home Edition : Click/Select 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.

    - For Windows XP Professional Edition : Click 'Start' and 'Printers and Faxes.'

    - For Windows Vista : Click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Hardware and Sound,' and 'Printers.'

    - For Windows 2000 : Click/Select 'Start,' and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
  2. Right-click the icon of the printer for paper feed roller cleaning, and select 'Properties' from the displayed list.
  3. Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Roller Cleaning'.

Remove all sheets of paper from the rear tray, then click 'OK'.
  4. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.
Note: Clicking 'OK' will activate the paper feed rollers 30 times. This activation will take about 90 seconds. Do not perform other operations until this operation has finished.
  5. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

After the continuous paper feeding operations in step 5 have finished, load three sheets of plain paper and click 'OK'.

  6. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

Note: “Feed roller cleaning is completed” message is displayed when the paper is fed and ejected.

    Click 'OK'.
Roller Cleaning is completed.

I am having trouble loading paper into my Canon MP190 Printer?

Try loading less paper AND try this trick:

Holde the stack of paper you are going to load with both hands... grip tight with the right hand and "bend" the paper like an arch. Then grip tight with the left hand, loosed grip with right, and "bend" the paper like a valley. Repeat this a few times to quickly seperate the individual pages so they don't stick together and thus jam in the printer!

Hope this helps!

When trying to print the paper doesn't feed evenly--it crunches up then jams the printer

Try cleaning the paper rollers, often ink on the roller causes the platten and paper wheels to become shiny and the paper slips, resulting in a jamb.
Use alcohol to remove ink shine. You can even gently rub with a plastic scourer to roughen the rollers a ;little . not too much but enough to give it better grip on the paper

Paper feeds crooked into the printer

Check the adjustments for the paper your using. Open the printer and look on the rollers you'll probably find paper or an obstruction clear it and also clean then rubber moving parts with isopropyl alcohol to give them their grip back.
