You will need to download and run the Vid Driver install program from the e-machines website.

If I understand you correctly you are going to sell this hard drive.
1. do a backup of the hard drive before formatting the hard drive.
2. this is done with a backup software that is within Windows.
3. make sure you have the correct driver disc for your video card and the Model number. You can then download the drivers from the manufacturer is you lose or damage the CD that came with the video card.

Not sure if you have fomatted the hard drive
You may need to clarify this.

Selling my Asus netbook... how can i do a mass delete??

Be careful.... you can reformat the hard drive BUT you will loose EVERYTHING on the hard drive including the Operating System. That will require you to reinstall Windows and all the drivers.
There is software that will "wipe" your hard drive so GOOGLE "deleting hard drive files".
GOOD LUCK

Windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys missing

If you have a windows install disk, then download active kill disk.

You need to erase the hard drive the right way, you don\'t format from NTFS to NTFS to erase a HDD.

Here is a free eraser, but you need to burn it to a **** and boot to it so it runs in DOS.
http://how-to-erase-hard-drive.com/downloadfree.htm

You can also go to Western digital and use the tools for HDD to erase.
Once the HDD is erased, your clear CMOS, reset the setting in the BIOS such as boot order, you should be able to reinstall windows and install all the correct drivers.

How do I erase my hard drive on a IBM T30 and reload the operating system and drivers.

Get an install disk for the operating system you wish to install (Make sure your computer is able to handle that operating system first), then put the disk in and boot to the disk. If your computer is not set up to boot to disk first then you will have to go into the BIOS, usually F2 of F12 on boot (whatever says press to enter setup), then change the boot settings from there.

Once you are inside the installer for that Operating System, it will give you an option to erase the hard drive you are wanting to install the operating system on, and restart new. Just so you are aware, this will reformat and ERASE EVERYTHING on that hard drive, so make sure that you have anything you want saved backed up somewhere else.

Once that is done, continue installing the operating system and then your hard drive will be erased, and the operating system will be reinstalled.

If you were just looking to erase a hard drive, then you can go to my computer, then right-click the hard drive you want to erase, then click format. THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING!

Hope this helps!

Have a look on ebay under computers then hard drive erase. There you can get discs for £1.79. I have used a version of these myself and they work very well. Don't know whether you are planning to reinstall OS or not. Hope this helps.

I have no video output after reformating my hard drive. but the computer goes through its boot sequence.

Reformatting your hard drive means erasing your operating system.(OS). Therefore, you have to reinstall
your operating system (Windows XP, Windows 7)
After you reinstall your OS, you must also reinstall the
software driver for sounds, and video. All software drivers
must be compatible with your OS.

Dead computer-how do you erase the info

Well since its dead software is out. You would have to open the hard drive and run a strong magnet across it 10 or 12 times..probably be easier to take the hard drives out and sell them at a cheaper price. Especially if you are selling it to strangers. Here's what the microsoft site said:

You need to destroy the platters inside. Try smashing them with a hammer. Destroying them with a torch should work. But you're right to be paranoid about this. Identity theft has become overwhelming. There are a lot of people out there who would love to hurt you.

Vote 4 stars on this solution before logging out, thanks.

Erased hard drive, now nothing will load

Check to make sure that your Inspiron is set to boot from the CD-ROM drive.

It sounds like your laptop is trying to boot from the (now erased) hard drive first, finds that it can't, then stops without ever checking the CD-ROM drive for boot media.

At startup, hit F2 to go into the BIOS settings. Look for the "Boot Order" section. Make sure that your CD drive is listed first, then your hard drive.

Save your changes, and reboot with the WinXP installation CD in your drive. Now your laptop should boot from the CD and begin installation.

Good Luck!

I need instructions on how to use purchased external storage unit purchased, no instructions included

Because the reformat or restore process erases everything on your computer, it is critical to have a backup of any important files on your computer. You will also need your original software install disks to reinstall any software you have purchased.
  • Write down or print out all notes and internet pages because once the format process begins, you will no longer have access to them (or anything else in the PC)
  • As already stated, BACKUP all important files and data! When you reformat your computer everything will be erased!
  • Make sure you have all the CDs and other software. All programs will have to be reinstalled after you format the hard drive. Don't forget about software that came with hardware such as printers, scanners, etc.
  • Write down the brand and information for all the hardware on your computer. Look in the Device Manager and make note of the brand and model of network adaptors, video cards, sound cards, printers, modems, and displays. After reformatting you might need this information to reinstall drivers. You might want to read from this site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348

Formating

You can do format while rebooting your pc and opening it in safemode command prompt that arrives by pressing F5 or F8. First you format the drives in which your OS is not present. Then format your primary hard drive on which OS is installed. In command prompt write C:/>formact C:\
