well you sorta do need an sd card. the memory in the phone is so small that only about 8-9 maybe 10 songs would fit on it. I have an lg gr500f and i use the data cable to put music on my phone ( i have an sd card). I have borrowed my friends sd card and just coppied music from the card to my phone on my phone before i got an sd card or using the bluetooth function from my laptop or a friends phone.

Putting Music on LG enV

If you buy an SD card for your phone, you can put it in your computer, transfer the songs you want over, and then put it in your phone. The music still plays through VCAST, but you don't have to pay. :]

Help with downloading music from computer to phone

One way to to put music on your phone, is by using a memory card. The Micro sd cards come with an adapter that allows you to insert it in a card reader slot. Then simply copy music into the Music folder on the card. The cards I have purchased already had music and picture folders established on them.
