It could be the laser is dirty or needs to be replaced. The board in the drive could be bad, but most times it is the laser. If you can take the unit apart and clean it, that is best. Blowing air in doesn't do the job. Its like taking a leaf blower in a house to clean it. The next best thing is a disk with the brushes under it. Wipe some alcohol on it first to see if the dirt will stick to the brushes.

When I turn my system on it just says open tray even if it has a disc in it. It just started this recently and I have already tried a laser eye cleaner and still nothing.

It sounds like your DVD drive's laser has stopped working. You will need to contact Microsoft to come and repair your console. Hopefully you still have a warranty on it. If not there are plenty of tutorials online to show you how to replace one yourself.
It's not an easy job. There is information on your original disc drive that lets the xbox know it belongs to it. If you swtich the drive without swapping out the boards on the inside of the drive your xbox will not recongnize it and it still wont work. Also the drive needs to be the same model of the old one. You can get around this by flashing the new drive but still that is not easy. Here is what I did instead of doing all that.
After receiving an xbox 360 from a guy wanting to sell it the other night I realized it had this problem without me knowing it when I got it. After trying EVERYTHING e.g. tapping, cleaning, moving laser back, and multiple other tricks I realized the disk would not spin. All it says is "open tray" and will not read. If all else has failed and you really have not use for it now this is worth a shot.
After opening it up you take out the disc drive and unscrew the 4 screws to open it. Take the lid off and plug everything back into the drive. If you have the BenQ drive you will notice if you press on the sticker it gives way a bit. Peel off the sticker and you will need to take the magnet out that holds the disc in place. Do this by twisting the magnet part in one direction and the plastic piece in the other. If your drive is different it might not be the same.
Plug the xbox in without putting the case and everything back together, just leave it open. Put the disc in. Take that magnet you took out and put it magnet side up on top of the middle of the disc. Turn it on by either the remote or there is a tiny button if you look closely where the power button would be.
If the disc starts spinning and trying to read then you should be able to play.....if not here is what you need to do. When it says open tray press the eject button. Then put the tray back in. Carefully start forcing the disc to spin but make sure to not scratch the disc. There is something wrong to where it won't spin itself because it it locking up. If you can get it to start spinning it will read it and continue spinning on its own and you should be able to play the game.
There is actually one video I found of how to go about doing this if you need help here: Go to youtube and look for solutions and if they all fail its worth a try.

My PS2 slim wont spin a disc it takes you to the game settings but nothing else

Well has it been dropped? If so more then likely the guide rail fall out of place and can easily be poped back in place. A good way to see if its your laser or guide rail is to fined the hole that when the lids closed this pin goes in the hole so the ps2 knows the lids closed and stick a piece of paper in that hole with lid opened. Now it should act like the lids closed. See if the laser produces a red beam or strange noises. Maybe even the little black piece at the back that stops the disc from spinning isnt working right. But dont get worried as theres a pin on the lid that makes the black piece pull back from the disc when lids closed so it might be stopping disc from spinng while its open. Several diffrent solutions need to know how you know its not spinning. If your just putting your head to it and cant hear it spinning then you will need to trouble shoot.

My games wont play and it says open tray

You have dirty laser or bad laser or dirty disc drive period. Try cleaning laser with qtip. If that doesnt work keep the disc drive apart and hook it up to the 360 make sure not to let your disc drive ground out anywhere on the 360. Hit eject button and close tray seeing if the laser even goes up with the tray. If it doesnt try greasing the rails and gears in there where everything slides.

I was playing C.O.D MW2 but my xbox was turned upside down so i turned it back the right way then my xbox made a few noises then a notice pops up and says could not read disc. so i cleaned yhe disc with a...

There is really big chance for an Xbox 360 to completely ruin a game disc if it was moved while the disc is spinning inside, even the slightest bump or vibration could higly cause for a disc to be scratched. This also happens with other optical drives which has spinning motion, say DVD/CD players and other game consoles.

Disc wont spin

There are 4 reasons a disc won't spin on the Slim PSP. The most common is a failed laser.

1. Failed laser -- the disc will not spin up to speed, or not spin at all, due to a bad laser. If you close the PS2 with no disc inside, the ps2 will never spin the disc. If you chose the PS2 with a disc inside but a bad laser, it still thinks no disc is inside and will not spin.

2. Lid closed sensors. There are two of them. One on the motherboard and one on the reset switch. These sensors let the PS2 know that the lid is closed. If one or both of these break, the disc will never spin because the PS2 will think the lid is still open.

3. Damaged case. If the case of the PS2 is damaged, the two parts of the lid that are supposed to press the lid-closed sensors will never press them.

I bought a gamecube online and it wont spin the disk

Sounds like you need the Gamecube sensor switch replaced. That is a small door device for detecting when the Gamecube DVD door or lid is closed allowing disc initiation to begin. When your Gamecube doesn't detect disk at all and simply continues the message: "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC," this is the problem. You can test this by inserting a game disc, opening the Gamecube door, and then closing it. If the message "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC" remains unchanged, and there is no spinning of the disk, then your GameCube lid closed door sensor is probably broken and should be replaced. You can search Google for Part GCPT032, or for GameCube Lid Closed Door Sensor.

An easy fix if you know how to open the Cube. It's cable simply plugs in, and it is held by one tiny screw.

Disc won't spin

I hate to be the bearer or bad tidings, but it sounds like the previous owner tried to repair the DVD tray and failed. You might want to take the unit apart and see if there are any internal screws missing. If there are any missing, it can definitely cause issues with the spin up on the DVD tray. If everything is intact, you may have to replace the DVD tray. Hope this helps. Good luck.
