Feels like the transmission is dragging. no reverse

I would check for a vacuum leak or a plugged up catalytic converter. It could be a number of things, but that is a start. If it feels like the transmission is dragging the engine down it could be your lock up converter in the transmission.

Sounds like you either have a cracked valve body or stuck valves inside of the transmission.

I would start with a transmission flush and filter change.

Does the car have disc or drum brakes in the rear? If they are drum brakes, they may have been adjusted too tightly when installed and that can cause dragging which will reduce fuel economy and reduce brake life.

How does your transmission fluid look and smell? If it is dark and smells a little burnt, the transmission is very likely toast. If it is still clear and red, you should let a transmission specialist diagnose it.

NO REVERSE ON TRANSMISSION

It can be issue with gears or problem with transmission and needs to be rebuilt. Also get the tranny fluid checked. If it's low, then such problems occurs.

your transmission range sensor needs to be replaced

sounds like the hand brake is binding on, after you've reversed it back say 200yd's if possible feel for heat in the centre of the rear wheels, if they are warm/hot it's most likley you'll need to strip the brakes down before you'll be able to fix the fault

does it feel like its in 2 gears at once and dragging. what was the original trans problem(why you changed it)
