CD player worked fine for 1 1/2 hours a few months ago. Player has sat unused. When I got it back out yesterday a CD started to play and kept stopping. Now I keep getting NO DISC message. Tried a laser lens cleaner. It started to run and it stopped. Again I can only get NO DISC message.

I have a Sony SCD-1 that has had the laser mechanism replaced by Sony in Giessen Germany 2 years ago. They kept it for 3 months. It has had light use since and now fails to read or stops playing or drops out on most cd's. Does anyone know what the problem is or where to get this repaired in either Europe of the USA?

Hi, my name is Darrell, I have a Phillips Digital 5 disc cd player, and every time I insert a cd it shows (no disk), and it will not play at all. Is there a solution for this problem?

I really like this cd player and I would hate to trash it.

In Regard to the posted "Best Solution", what is the little circle thing? Did they mean clean the CD or the rack that holds the CD?

  • Anonymous May 25, 2009

How are you supposed to take out the little circle thing to clean it??

Your lens has come out of adjustment. It is reading "between the lines" so to speak. This can be caused by mechanical stress on the cradle holding the lens or loose screws therein, these are normally held in by a dob of (let's say nail polish for the layman.) locking fluid. This can crack with age and allow a screw that is NOT screwed in enough to loosen enough to allow movement in the cradle. Try adjusting an old FDD, it will not read disks until readjusted back to where it should be. This should give you the confidence to adjust the unit, otherwise, take it to a shop or discard it, let's face it, CD/DVD players are cheap now, just buy a DVD player to play your CD's and hook it to your stereo for under $50! Benefits are: It will also play MP3 disks.... Cheers.

I have a philip AZ2045 CD Player , but lately it can't detect the cd. Everytime I tried to play a CD it always written NO CD or CD EROR... Can anyone help me ,please ??

Try using a DVD / CD disc cleaner. There is a lens on the driv which detects if a disc is inserted and to read the info on the disc. If its dirty, it wont read properly.

When i try to play a movie, display shows"no

It is probably the lens, there might be some dirt stuck on it. Use a CD lens cleaner, it is available on any CD/DVD stores. You just basically insert that CD lens cleaner into your DVD player, hit PLAY and then after around 2 minutes, it's done cleaning.

When a dvd is inserted, the message "no disc" appears, what is the cure?

Hello. The problem is not in your television. It is in the DVD player, your player did not read the cd because, either your cd or the lens player is dirty. Now,try to clean the cd first then insert,if the "no disc "appear again try to clean the lens of your player using lens cleaner. Then if the cd and the lens is clean it may play. Thanks

CD player did not play when a disc was inserted.

Various things can cause a CD player not to play a disc which gets inserted. First of which is a bad disc, second is the issue relating to regions as certain regions require particular formats for their discs and finally is a dirty lens.
Try running a cd lend cleaner on the system and retry the disc.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Jvc kd-sx770 car stereo--radio works, but cd player doesn't

Hello beeswing70,

The player is recognizing that a CD has been inserted but is not able to read it.

Sometimes the lens assembly becomes contaminated and obscures the laser. I'd try using a commercial "lens cleaning CD" two or three times and then try a CD again. These lens cleaning CD's are widely available. If cleaning does not help, the player need professional service.

Hope this helps.
