Once you have accessed the router click on the wireless tab and then on wireless security you should see a passkey that she can type in when connecting her computer to your wireless network.

Thanks

    I need to reset the password on my linksys Wireless GBroadband router WRT 54G without ruining my wireless set up in my house!

    Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the router.
    Access the web-server "inside" the router.
    Login to the router, with the current ID/password.
    View the wireless settings:
    * SSID
    * encryption-level ('WPA' or better, please)
    * network password

    and change it, if you need to.

    We lost power to the house and have reset our Linksys wireless G 2.4ghz the user name has dissapeared on the available wireless networks....and the security is now open again....what do we do?

    If it was a hard reset you will need to setup the router again. Connect to the router from your computer via a network cable. The default Linksys IP address is: 192.168.1.1 Type that in the address window of your internet browser. When you press enter a login window will pop-up. The default login name is administrator / the default password is password. Once logged in you will be able to setup the router once againl

    We just added a second laptop to our home network and in setting up the laptop for wireless it asked for a pin number for our linksys wireless router but the pin number is not on the unit and we don't have...

    Yes this is very straight forward

    open internet explorer on your computer which is connected to wireless router.

    browse to your gateway address. The default for linksys is usually http://192.168.1.1

    then it will ask for username and password

    linksys default username: (leave this blank)
    linksys default password: admin

    if that doesn't work try username: admin
    password: admin

    Once logged into console you should be able to see wireless security settings

    Click on that and it will take you through to a page with your security settings on there you will see a wireless key or network key or wireless passphrase.

    simply make a note of the key as its written. (If the password is masked or *********** out ) which is the case on some of the newer linksys devices you can simply overtype the password with a new one, bear in mind that you will have to then update any clients that normally connect to the wireless network with the new password. So thats all computers, laptops, DS's Wii's Playstations & Xbox's.

    ******I'd STRONGLY recommend you DO NOT change the wireless password / security key over wireless you should always do it using an RJ45 ETHERNET cable connected to your computer and the router. *********

    I don't know the password of my Linksys router (which my son set up years ago); the password is needed to set up a wireless usb stick in my house.

    Hold teh reset button in the back for 30 seconds and it'll reset the router to factory defaults. From there, open a browser and type the address 192.168.1.1. Username is blank and password is "admin". If that doesn't work, many of the newer linksys routers have "admin" as both the username and the password.

    Toshiba M35X-S311 laptop that wireless will work anywhere but not at the house, have a linksys router. Everybody else can come over and connect wirelessly to my router but when I turn my wireless button...

    First You can not connected the net by Safemode.
    Second, Use the wire, connect the Linksys to your computer, and if you are using another modem, set this first using same SSID and password.
    Then remove the cable and set the wireless (Before That while cable is on see the wireless on linksys home page and access it. to get your key number or set it up.)
    If you can not, try to see Cisco systems user guide.

    Renaming Linksys BEFSX41 router and securing it.

    It sound to me that you have a wireless card in your laptop and you are picking up your neighbors wireless router!!!! which has no SSID set, thus "default" and has no encryption set, thus "unsecured network". Turn off your wireless adapter The only security on a Non-Wireless router is turning on the firewall. It should be enabled by default. The other thing would be to change the password on your router, but since you do not have a wireless router, then it is pointless, unless you do not want someone in your house to access the router settings and make changes. Ever then, if someone in your house that is physically connected to the router with a "cable" could alway walk to the router and stick a pin in the the "reset" hole in the back of the router to reset wipe any changes that was made, so a password is pointless as far as I am concerned for non-wirelss routers. open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1 Admin User name: Leave it blank Password: admin Once you login you can change your password if you like.
