GE advantium oven does not microwave

The Advantium 240 oven interior (cavity) light will illuminate anytime the door is open. However, due to the dark tint on the oven door, there is not a light on while cooking since the food would not be visible using the interior lamp.
Food may be viewed during a microwave cycle by pressing the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

One of the Upper Level Speedcook lamps will come on for 5 seconds. The Microwave/Oven Light pad can be pressed up to 5 times during a microwave cooking cycle. The limit of 5 times is to prevent excessive heat on microwave cookware from the Speedcook lamp.

The door switches should be checked, often food partical buildup will cause one or more to malfunction.

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.

bad micro switch in door handle, 79.95 for GE man to check,9.61 for the part and changed it myself

The drive to the carousel is broken...and what you hear is the drive trying hitting the bottom of drive shaft* (cheaper to replace then fix)

Just to follow upon my post it turned out to be the switch for the door was arking and not allowing it to run properly. The repairman took off the front and replaced the switch. You could see the black on it. Works great since.
