I have a GE advantium oven which no longer microwaves properly. The fan runs as well as the rotary tray during the cycle but the food never heats up. The light cooking cycle works fine. I had seen that others experienced this problem and it turned out to be the door switch. I am looking for the service manual in hopes that I can tear into it without removing it from above our stove.
I have had this same problem and have replaced the door switch a couple of times. It is very easy and can be done with out taking the unit off the wall.
No it will be more complex than that. I feel your magnatron is faulty or the HV diode that is attached to tha capacitor. Please be aware, there are large voltages on the cap most of the times even though the power is off.(Micro work is dangerous).
It sounds like the magnetron may have
either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high
voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is
discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check
the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with
either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the
capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary
of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is
best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.
