How do I keep my computer from going into powersave mode and crashing when I play games?

The computer is changing the screen resolution to a mode unsupported by the monitor. The "power saving" message is being generated by the monitor/tv not the computer. Check device manager and ensure that under displays, that you do not have "standard vga" I shall try and make a screenshot of what you need to look for or a youtube link.

When i turn on it goes start to pc entering power saving mode

Are you sure it isn't the monitor entering powersave mode?
An unhooked monitor (especially flatscreen DELLs ) will go into powersave mode if it isn't getting a signal but is getting power.

First unplug and then replug your monitor. Both ends of the cord, the end in the back of the monitor (if it comes out at all) and the end that plugs into the computer.(unplug it from the wall first)

Reboot computer.

If that fails...(and you do have a video card)

Unplug everything from the computer, open the box, ground yourself by touching the metal frame of the computer case and reseat your video card....you may have to undo one screw to get it out.
DON'T drop the screw into the case!

Put it all back together and try again.

If that all fails Boot Windows (windows right?) into safe mode and change the power settings for the monitor...perhaps something got changed or broken by an update.

If that fails....

Get Linux.

Monitor displays "warning pc entering power saving mode

Hello
Sounds like to power settings were set too low. Restart the PC, before it gets to Windows press F8. This will send the PC into SAFE mode. You'll get a menu of which SAFE mode to select, just select SAFE mode with networking. Once in SAFE mode, go to START, Control Panel, Power Options. From there select new settings. Since this is a desktop, I would make the settings very long. Good luck

Dell Dimension 5100 will not power up. Was working fine, turned power off, will not turn back on. Power supply tested OK, tried different power switch and ribbon cable connector, replaced mother board...

Have you checked your monitor? Try your monitor on another PC and check it is OK. Once you change the MB battery you effectively "Kill" the PC, as all the settings in the BIOS are removed and must be reprogrammed. You must enter the BIOS, and select "Default" setup and then reboot, you must do this regardless of what else is done first.(A bit hard when you can't see anything" You say... "tried different power switch and ribbon cable connector" (sic) exactly what "Ribbon cable/Power switch"? Anyway as said check monitor, if it is OK, we will proceed from there, then, you must check your video card, test it in another machine, if possible, to see if thats OK, if it is OK, then it is now likely that you may have a Mother board problem. If you can, try another Video card to see if you get Video on screen. see we need to establish "Known Good" items, once we know whats what, we can then go on. Now if any of these things tested are faulty, Monitor, Video card, obviously replace them, however IF they are NOT faulty, as related it may be the Motherboard, Remove the RAM, and see if anything is on screen? If yes, replace RAM, If still NO, then take any cards out, and check, if then OK, replace cards one by one until you get to the one that stops it, there is your problem, replace it. All we are trying to do is get anything on the screen, if we do, then you must redo the BIOS, as related before. Now if you get it going it still may not boot through to windows desktop, if this is the case, after you boot press F8 and select safe mode, when you get asked if you want safe mode or system restore, choose system restore and choose a date before you had a problem that should get you back. You just have to logically work through, until you find the faulty "bit" and replace it.

this is system power scheme, to save power when the machine doesn't detect any action on the keyboard of the mouse for a preset time frame.
go to control panel>power options and change the hard drive shunt down time, and the monitor shunt down time to what ever you like.
