Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
This seemed to work for me. Newer models of the hp series has a switch
located inside the hinge, so when you close your lid it shuts off the screen. Older models have a button located near the top hinge. By adjusting the brightness using the fn functions (holding fn near ctrl, and pressing f8 at the top) then close the lid till the screen goes dark, then open it. The screen should be set to the adjusted brightness. I think it changes the default brightness, learned through trial n error :-) Hope it works for you.

Check your inverter, it's possibly going bad or loose connection
