Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Mitsubishi WD-52525 52 only 2 1/2 years old

When we turned it on everything went fine, the picture was great and then we started getting the vertical rolling. This continued for a while and then the it would start going in and out before going to a blue screen. When reading the other posted problems it sounds like the optical engine is going out. Are we looking at an expensive replacement and time without a tv? So my question to you is, could this problem be due to the lamp?

Mitsubishi WD-52525

Normal 0 The Mitsubishi WD-52525 has a serious capacitor problem as discussed in this forum overseen by a Mitsubishi certified repair technician: There has been a worldwide problem in computers and TVs over thepast several years with faulty electrolytic capacitors (from Taiwan) thatdecay, dry out, swell and die. The power supply is often the firstcomponent to go bad, but other systems also degrade over time. As theforum explains , this problem is widespread in these sets causing multipletypes of display problems after several years of use. On my set, I also got a blue screen with a lighter blue ball in the middle. Mitsubishi is awareof the problem and will cover most of the cost of repairing the chassis, evenyears out of warranty, but apparently ONLY if you get an estimate from aMitsubishi certified repair station and contact their customer support BEFOREdoing any work on the set. I just followed the recommended procedure onthat forum and Mitsubishi is covering half the cost of my $700+ repair when my3+ year-old set recently died and showed only this blue screen on all inputs.

Change the 1000uf @16v capacitors on the FMT board that should solve your problem. You will most likely found that they have swelled. Let me know if you need further info.

Checkerboard display.

checkboard pattern is generated internally by the light or optical engine.. when the signal is blocked from the signal board. the optic engine generates these test patterns. rolling piture also indicates a signal board problems.
