2 Answers

I have a cuisinart with brew and grind coffee maker, it grinds the beans but, won't go down for brewing, the ground coffee is just sitting in the grind basket. Also, the grind basket is stucked, I can't pull it out to clean it.

The grinder basket does get stuck, and it does not turn as it is fitted into a molded cavity in the unit. Gently work at prying underneath it around the edges with a standard screwdriver. It can take a bit of time and patience. Once you have gotten it out clean it thoroughly. While the grinder basket is out, also clean the cavity that it fits into and the motor post that it engages with. That area gets gummed up with coffee goo and steam from the unit resulting in your stuck grinder. Once you have cleaned out the cavity and post you can apply a bit of olive oil or cooking spray to the motor post and reinstall the grinder basket. To avoid the problem in the future, clean the cavity and re-oil the post every 5-6 pots or so. It is an easy clean once you have gotten the buildup out of the cavity, and only takes wiping it out with a napkin or paper towel.

Not a solution but...

Many folks have reported this, the latching mechanism wears out eventually.
We had the problem but discovered that the door on the basket wasn't getting completely closed. Now I make sure it's closed and haven't had any problem since.
Hope this solves your issue - if not, keep an eye on yard sales, we picked up two at different times for $5 and now have parts to swap out - not much help for a failed latch though.
Glad I never paid full price for it, even though it's a fairly good grinder/brewer.

this is a cronic problem with the DGB900BC even after cleaning. the problem is the gate or trap to the grounds needs to open/remain open during grinding or all backs up and jams. my unit opens the door (correctly) during the rotation but closes just before grinding (over-rotation?). Cuisinart is not aware of this problem (800-726-0190). please call them; i just have.

My DGB-700BC cuisinart coffee maker grinds beans but then gets stuck and will not continue brew cycle. keeps beeping. please help!!!

We bought our Cuisinart 12 cup grind n brew less than a year ago. Almost as soon as we started using it we began having problems with it hanging up between the grinding and brewing cycles. It would sit and click. I tinkered with it incessantly and usually could, after fiddling long enough with the filter lid, get it to brew, but it was aggravating, to say the least.
When one morning it would NOT work I called Cuisinart and was relieved to hear that there is apparently a problem with some of the filter lids not seating properly. They are sending us a new one. The rep I spoke with told me that if this did not work they would replace the unit, so at least it sounds like their customer service may be on the ball.
So, call Cuisinart for a replacement of your filter lid and see if that solves your problem.

Coffee grinder clogging

Remove the grind chamber.
There is a black plastic pice sticking up in the area underneath where the grind chamber would sit. Lift it up, and you will see it is sort of like a hatch. It is probably clogged with coffee grinds.
Go ahead and clear out this chute, and see if it resolves the problem.

Machine shuts off after beans are ground & sometimes when pot is 1/4 full

You have not missed anything. Unplugging for longer than 16 minutes (has 15-minute memory) is the only troubleshooting you can perform. Call Cuisinart to find out if you are still in warranty. Serial number is engraved onto the very bottom of the coffee maker - hard to read. All electronics have a failure rate. Cuisinart's is acceptably low, but their coffee makers are the least reliable of all their products. The basic problem with electronic coffee makers is that coffee makers produce high heat, and high heat kills electronics and melts plastic. At least Cuisinart has a 3-year warranty - higher than the industry standard.

Let me put it another way. All coffee makers have a high failure rate. As many Cuisinart coffee makers that break down, the non-Grind-and-Brews still have a 91 rating from Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports doesn't give ANYTHING a 91 rating. A lot break, but you probably won't fare much better by switching to a different brand. The problem with a Cuisinart breaking down is that an expensive unit broke down - you wouldn't be upset if your $15 Mr. Coffee broke every year. The law of averages is on your side - a 2nd Cuisinart will probably last longer.
