Question about Garden
John Deere LX188 battery discharge light came on when I started the mower. It's remaining on, while I mow, even after I've now given the battery a full charge.
Check the brown wire feeding your voltage regulator, its between batt and steering wheel behind left side of frame.LX100 series machines had a problem with brown wire not fully contacting terminal in regulator. You will know you had bad contact if plastic is discolored.

If you have access to a volt meter, with the engine running at full RPM check the voltage at the battery terminals. It should read around 13.5 to 14 volts. If it is just showing 12 volts or even less, your charging system is at fault. In this case I/we would need to know which engine is in your tractor (MAKE-MODEL-SPEC#) While you are taking the voltage reading also check your battery terminals for corrosion and tightness.
