We can provide a broad worth very little answer or you can provide the make, model number, and serial number from the manufacturer?s tag and get a much better answer. It also helps if we know whether American or European. These generic headings aren't trustworthy. If I provide an answer based on an incorrect make or model you won't be helped!

SOURCE: locate exploded drawing of poulan chain saw

I tried a couple locations and found a site that might help go to psep.biz and it will direct you to the blowup. It also indicated that it needed a type number so have that handy. If this doesn't help let me know and I will research further.

SOURCE: how to remove poulan chain saw oil check valve

I believe this saw has a duck bill valve that is removed by removing the star fastener that holds it in place. I normally use a pick type tool to pry the fastener up.

Wild thing saw brand new used once, over heating, not wanting to cut, why?

If there is no oil getting to the chain, you will have metal to metal contact between the chain and the bar with no oil film, the chain will look dry and be covered in baked on resin from the heat, make sure you have adiquate chain oil in the oil chamber, this chamber is seperate to the fuel chamber, it should be filled with a non fling chain oil.

Having trouble putting on new chain.have no manual.the 2 mounting holes in bar what are they for

There should be some bolts that allow you to tighten the bar, and a slot that allows the bar to slide when you loosen the bolts.
Also, there should be some kind of adjusting screw that allows you to tighten the chain. To remove the old chain and install the new chain, you'll need to completely back off any tension on the adjuster, allowing the bar to move TOWARD the chain saw.
You should keep the chain oiled, and whenever it stretches, even a little, you should adjust the chain according to the owners manual too keep it at the right tension.
The two mounting slots are usually aligned with something that will keep the chain bar straight; such as a bolt or perhaps a pin in the motor assembly.

Motor runs well but chain wont move,l it only 3 months old what next?

Make sure that you can move the chain by hand and that it is being properly oiled. Remove the bar and chain after releasing the chain brake. Clean the side of the engine where the bar fits to, then start the engine--oil should ooze out of the port. Wash out the interior of the clutch with spray carburetor cleaner to clean away excess oil accumulation. Clean the drive end of the bar small oil passages that run from the large holes out to the chain groove on each edge. If oil oozed out during the run test, reassemble everything making sure the chain teeth cut toward you on the bottom run. Adjust the chain up to the bar, but not so tight that you can't move the chain by hand. Tighten the cover fasteners and recheck the chain tension. Start the engine and run the bar tip near some cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil after several moments. Hope this helps!

I have an 18" Poulan chain saw, 25th Anniversary

Yes there is.If you can get the broken pieces out of the tank.there should be a filter on one of the broken lines.you will have too buy some gas line 3/16.take some wd-40 and spray the line.this makes it easier to slide through the hole in tank.then loop it around to gas cap hole and reinstall filter.then make sure filter is at bottom of tank and hook back to carb.

Poulan oiler don't work

Common problem with Poulan and Craftsman gas saws. Take off the chain and chain guide and clean out all the saw dust etc. Start saw without chain and look for port where there are signs of oil. If port is clear of sawdust, then it is likely the pump which is located behind the chain break assembly. you can get the diagram on Poulan website and the replacement pump will cost about $15 - $20 to replace yours.
