Question about Canon PC170 Copier

1 Answer

The Canon PC 170 copier is not coming on. There is a click sound, but no warming up and the light for the number of copies wanted does not cut on. It was storaged unplugged in the classroom during the summer, and wasn't used for 3 months. Now at the start of the school year it will not cut on. I have shaken the cartridge, it is still full from what I can tell. Any help is appreciated, we love this copier and don't want to get rid of it.

Sounds like a bad power supply. The clicking is a solid state relay coming on, but it's either not putting out anything from there (ac 120v power supply) or the DC power supply is bad. Not a user fix...sorry! Call a qualified service tech anytime you are dealing with power issuses!

Pages copy all black

It sound like the scanner is not lighting. Open the cover and press green copy button. As the scanner moves it should produce a green light. If it does not then the halogen lamp will have to be replaced. Its part number is FH7-3381-000 for the 120v model and FH7-3380-000 for the 220/240v one. personally I would not bother as they are not worth repairing.

4. On the page you will the "Copies" below is the "Number of copies"

I want a service manual for my canon pc940 copier

Just installed a new cartridge. Made one copy. worked great.
Went to make a copy today. All Black. Thought about it. Tried again and noticed lamp was not lighting. Before you say DUH! is the lamp out or is their extenuating circumstances preventing the lamp from lighting during a copy. The table top moves and everything else seems to work accordingly.

Print is too light to read. changing cartridge doesn't help. been this way from day one

The machine optics are probably dirty and needs to be cleand. You can try to take out the drum unit and locate a small glass strip that sits above the drum in the frame of the machine. if you can find it, try to clean it and this should help some without taking the machine apart.

White line and very, very dirty copies

the nealy black copies sounds like the drum is going, try adjusting the exposure to light, if it comes out with the whole page the same way but just lighter than change drum. White line sounds like there is something on the coronas.
