Hello, Windows install first Available some points:- A> Fresh Windows XP CD not damage cd, if cd damage may be some file miss and installation after problem show. B> DVD Rom Drive. C> You DELL pc support Windows XP. Installation Process:- > Insert CD to DVD ROM driver and boot CD. > If CD not select first boot then open bios and select CD first boot. > Then follow instruction step by step like language, which drive install windows (C Drive select), format option (select quick format), new user create etc.
You will need an XP install CD for this and also set the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device.
Watch for a Press any key to boot from CD... message similar to the one shown above.
Press a key to force the computer to boot
from the Windows CD. If you do not press a key, your PC will continue
to boot to the Windows XP installation that's currently installed on
your hard drive. If this happens, simply reboot and try to boot to the Windows XP CD again.
When the Windows XP Professional/Home Setup screen appears, press R to enter Recovery Console.
The Recovery Console
is now loading but needs to know which Windows installation to access.
Most users only have a single Windows XP installation so the choice is
usually clear. To the Which Windows installation would you like to log onto question, press 1 and then Enter.
The Recovery Console
now needs to know the administrator password for this Windows XP
installation. Unless you are using a PC in a sizable business network,
the administrator password is most likely the same password you use to
access Windows XP on a daily basis. To the Type the Administrator password request, enter the password and press Enter. Note: If you do not have a password or Windows XP normally starts without asking for one, simply press Enter.
Type fixmbr and then press Enter.
The fixmbr utility will write a master boot record to the hard drive
that you're currently using to boot into Windows XP. This will repair
any corruption or damage that the master boot record may have.
Take out the Windows XP CD, type exit and then press Enter to restart your PC.
Assuming that a corrupt master boot record was your only issue, Windows XP should now start normally.
Get a bootable windows xp cd first.
Boot the computer and enter the bios. Change the boot priority and make the computer boot through the optical drive. Then save settings and reboot placing the cd in the drive. The computer will boot through cd and show the main menu which allows you to format and install the xp select install and you will be able to do so
If its the full windows xp cd by booting it from the cd drive it will erase everything and ask if you want to upgrade or advanced install I think. Your correct in choosing the atapi cd-rom as 1st boot device. The cd should be in the drive on startup. IDE is the type of hard disk drive. I'm guessing the FDD stands for floppy disk drive which you might not have that many but you have that many bay windows available.
Put disk in, shut down computer, Start computer and it should give you the xp disk contents. Be aware of data loss though.
step 1 - First insert the windows xp cd in your cd drive.
step 2 - Then start your computer and keep pressing F12 key on your keyboard.
step 3 - After pressing F12 key,it will show you some options to select from where you want to boot from.
step 4 - Select 'Boot from CD drive/USB cd drive'
step 5 - Now it will try to boot from your bootable windows xp cd which you have inserted in th CD drive.
step 6 - After reading the CD it will prompt you to 'Press any key to boot from CD drive'
step 7 - At this moment press any key.Remeber you will have to press any key while this prompt appears.otherwise it will boot from your Hard disk drive.
step 8 - After pressing any key it will start windows xp setup.
If XP will not install from the CD or if you have a new drive with no operating system onit yet try these:

Install Windows XP from DOS (ie. no OS on a new hard drive):
