Around the base of the motor there should be small round cap about the size of a quarter with two small round quarter inch high posts on it - that is for finger leverage.. Unscrew it and tip the mower so all the oil comes out.. Replace oil and cap.

Where can I find the oil drain plugs on my 1989 Harley FXR? I'm doing a complete oil change. Ive looked at tons of different sites but the plugs don't match the location my bike.

Hi David, for a 1989 FXR the engine oil drains out of the oil tank via a rubber hose located at the rear bottom left corner, the transmission drains from a large threaded plug located on the bottom center of the transmission case, the primary chaincase oil drains from a small threaded pipe plug located on the outside of the primary cover directly below dead center of the clutch inspection cover. Good luck

Oil Change

Depending on the manufacture some come with oil filters and some without. There exists on all machines a drain plug located on or near the bottom of the crankcase housing. Use a suitable container to catch the drain oil ( 1 gallon drain pan ) . Drain the oil completely from the crankcase some drain plugs contain a magnet to catch particles clean it off prior to reinstalling it, reinstall the drain plug. Locate and remove the oil filter making sure the old oil filter base gasket comes off with the old filter, install a new oil filter as described by the manufacture. Then refill the crankcase with the proper mount of new engine oil through the filler plug/ dipstick hole.

Need assistance on changing oil and primary. Warrenty is out and doing it myself.

The oil drain plug is on the bottom of the transmission as the oil tank is located there. Usually the drain plug is the one closest to the left front of the pan. Drain the oil, change the filter, and add fresh oil. To change the primary, locate the small pipe plug on the bottom of the primary directly below the derby cover and remove it. Drain the oil, remove the derby cover, and stand the bike straight up. Fill the primary with oil just until it comes up the bottom of the outer clutch drum. Do not overfill. To change the transmission lubricant, locate the pipe plug on the front of the oil pan on the bottom of the transmission. Drain the oil and refill though the plug and dipstick in the chrome release cover on the right side of the transmission. Add 20-24 ounces of oil.

Good luck

I have a Coleman Powermate PM0435001 5000W with a Subaru EX30D 10HP OHV/OHC gasoline engine. I want to change the oil and cant find a drain plug. Did I overlook it or does it not have a drain plug? If not...

You probably overlooked the drain plug, it is usually located on the mounting base of the engine. BUT, there have been some engines (old cheap ones) that the oil was drained by tipping the engine and draining out the oil fill. I am almost positive yours is not one of these.

Your manual is here, but that is only an "insert". It does look like the drain plug is located on the base of the engine. Find the spark plug, and the drain plug is almost directly underneath it at the very bottom of the engine.

More information is available from Subaru's website, including owners manual and especially a service and parts manuals. Your drain plug is item #13 on page 2 of the owners manual located here:

Oil Change proceedure. Where is the oil pan drain

The drain plug will be at the lowest part of the oil pan. I would recommend you take it to a shop, if you cant seem to find it. If its not right, you can damage the engine, and thats a pretty big price for trying to save a few bucks.

Oil drain plug location

It's located in the bottom of the oil pan of the engine under the car. If your changing your own oil, you'll want to change the filter at the same time you drain the oil. It should take about 4.5 to 5 quarts of oil to fill it through the cap on the valve cover on the top of the engine. You'll need I believe a 13mm wrench or socket for the plug and a filter wrench.
