Splitcam has been known and used by some Skype users for quite some time, as a work-around to get Skype to accept video from devices that it wouldn't otherwise see, generally non-webcam devices such as DV camera adapters, video adapter cards and the like. Of course, in my opinion "some negative effects" would have to be put into context compared to "not working at all" if that is your current situation with the Pro 9000, so what the heck, it's worth a try.

I have not seen any reports of virus/spyware/other associated with splitcam; I have seen a couple of comments about it having to be open and displaying adverts, I guess it depends on how much that might bother you; I just ignore that sort of thing and write it off to "they've got to make money somehow".
