Did you recently change the memory or open the case to perform some tasks?

A response that you had not opened the case would have been appreciated, assuming that was the case

From another manual possibly for another machine indicates the 5 beeps could indicate a memory issue. I have worked on many machines with their case's open and this does occur periodically after making hardware modifications. The number of beeps and the status of lights on the machine are different from machine to machine. One common cause of this could be improper memory installation another could be memory failure. IF you are suitably skilled to work inside the box there were suggestions to attempt to operate the machine on one memory stick at a time to see isolate one or more that may be failing. There could be other reasons but in the end something failed in the boot process prior to your machine being able to activate the video system and display a message on the monitor.

My hp prodesk 405 g1 mt keeps beeping 4 times in a row, pauses, then 4 times again. Repeats this process 4 times and wont boot with the power light blinking red. Help!!!

The beeping is a bios error code. Get the model of the motherboard and get manual to it . it should reference the beep codes to what the problem is.

Pc giving 5 beeps and no display

Could be a problem in the RAM. You can do a thorough boot-up RAM test with Memtest using a CD-ROM or a USB stick if your system is configured to boot on USB.

any A+ Certified tech can help you,, it's super easy. that.
DC5100-MT is the real name with dash

ill first do age then spec, to see what this is.

Holding cmos button.
there is no such button, only power and RESET on the outside of DT cases.
did you play inside. that it? do tell what you did in DETAILS.
when you power on, do all fans run, this is FIRST do they>?

I say PSU is dead, now. if fans dead.
a tech uses a voltmeter to check all PSU bus wires for proper voltages. 5v 12vdc from 5 to 10 wires. there.

curious, why ask here and not where you get faster and 10x better answers. ???
Compaq and HP changed BIOS many times, and the beeps are all different. since screen is dead i cant ask you to read what BIOS is there on said screen, its too late now. but i found your old 2005 book, seen below....

fans dead, why not report that first.??
you turn it on and the fans must stay on, for 1second
after 1 second if the PSU sees (or mobo) sees errors in power bus
it shuts its self off. all DT do that ,desktops.
then make sure the fans are not packed in LENT
the CPU shuts down in seconds if fan dies. or heat sink falls off it.

ever see this?
This safety feature prevents say blowing up a $300 processor, not yours its old $5. p4

it is a relic, a Pentium 4, ID retire it.

came with XP or Redhat Linux new. or w2000

oh my gosh, (OMG) it had a minitower version with same p/n
Ok 5100mT is minitower.
so the PSU is standard? on that I thing
show me a photo of it?
at HP forum. (in in you book seen below)
the magic trick is powering on with no memory,
powering off, push power button with power cable removed
wait 5min, put back memory sticks.

THE MT version came with windows 1000 up to VISTA
birth date early 2005, says
ohh, and to type dc5100-mt with no dash HP goes lost. wow.

the beep pages on the below is here, at HP.still after 10 years.\

page 2-21,. tells you what 5 beeps mean, amazing in the
RTM first the ask.?

does PC fail it all cables removed, not Power cable.?>
by fail mean fails to turn on run and fans blow?
and not beep.? if yes plug in VGA, see anything there
if PSU stays UP?
The PSU must stay on, does it, as must fans
this is step one, and not stated clearly.

Booting up

one light is for hardrive activity , the other is to show the power is on.. the flashing one is most likely the power light as most computers will tell you when thier ill....the beeping is an error code and should be in some pattern EG: Power LED blinks red twice, once a second, followed by a two second pause. Or something like that. Take note of the pattern and repost it here, then we can give you a specific area to look at.

My DC5100 Gives beep sound

This is almost definitely a RAM issue and usually its the ADD ON memory. The way to find out is to test each one separately on the same slot.
