Remote controls won't work

I have a Bush DR3006 and the remote control won't work even though Ihave replaced the batteries and even purchased a new remote control.

I can play DVD's but I can't nagigate through the options as there aren't any keys/controls on the machine itself. I seem to have had this problem only since Sky did a 'guarnteed fix' on my satellite system earlier this year.

Any clues?
