Question about Sewing Machines

Singer sewing machine model 6012 c

I am going crazy ....  I was sewing a straingt seam and the machine just stopped picking up the top thread , now it won't pick up the bottom thread from the bobbin.  I have changed the needle, refilled the bobbin, rethreaded the machine top and bottom still won't pick up the thread and form a stitch.

HELP PLEASE  !!!!!!!

I have a Singer132 featherweight that won't pick up the top thread. The bobbin spins around when I turn the wheel but doesn't seem to go far enough to hook the top thread. If I do it manual and then try to sew - the bobbin spits out this huge, nasty, hair ball looking thing on the back of the fabric and gets hung up. Help!

Thanks for the tip. I actually took the "bobbin casing" or whatever it's called, apart and oiled it a little bit. I put it all back together, tightened the screws, and spun the wheel to work the oil around. It fixed it right up. I wonder if just taking it apart and puting it back together helped to snap it into shape. I will still get those timing directions incase my accidental fix is only temporary. Thank you. (no, I don't have the new featherweight)

When sewing the thread balls up on the bottom seam and the material and thread gets caught in the bobbin.

THREAD GETS HUNG UP THE BOBBIN AREA. FIRST TIME SETTING IT UP. START TO SEW AND FABRIC NOT MOVING AND THREAD GETS ALL OVER THE BOBBIN AREA.

THE TOP THREAD WILL PICK UP THE BOBBIN THREAD BY TURNING THE WHEEL, BUT IT WILL NOT CONNECT WHEN I TRY TO MAKE A SEAM.

I just received a new Singer CG-590. Have threaded the machine and bobbin. Each time I try to pick up the bobbin thread, the top thread wraps around the bobbin case. It will not pick up the bobbin...

try turning the bobbin the opposite way, and if that doesn't help then take the machine back and get another one, maybe even a different model

I had to remove the bobbin to add more thread...I put the bobbin back in the hole, now i don't know what the do to get the bobbin thread hooked...its a singer 6012 C

try the threading diagrams at www.sewusa.com your model is not listed but the basics should be very similar. Link is

http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Singer_Sewing_Machine_Threading/singer_4538_threading_diagram.htm

It is so useful to have a manual for a machine, and there are several websites including singer where you can buy manuals for various models; well worth the $10 or so to obtain one.

there is also lots of general sewing machine info at www.sewing.about.com or u-tube videos could help too.

Tension is too tight on my sewing machine,,need to know the settings to go with which seam. singer 724 graduate

Hi. As a rule of thumb, once the tension is balanced on your machine, it shouldn't need adjusting. It's not something you adjust for each different type of seam or fabric (again, rule of thumb!). (Certain kinds of sewing, like free motion embroidery or when you use rayon thread, require particular tension adjustments, but for ordinary sewing, you shouldn't have to mess with the tension that often.
If the top tension is too tight, your top thread will be loose and basically just sitting on top of the fabric. You need to loosen it up so that the bobbin thread can pull the top thread down into the fabric.
Let me know if this helps, ok? I'm going to post a tip on adjusting tension so please check that out.
Happy Sewing!

Machine will not pick up the bobbin thread.

if your machine's needle threads from front to back, make sure that the flat part of the needle shank points to the rear of the machine. If it threads from left to right, the flat side should face right, etc.

When I had this experience I cleaned the thread path under the plastic cover. There was a piece of thread caught between the disks.
